'My Driver is an entertaining droll novel, executed with a lovely light touch.' Lionel Shriver, (We Need To Talk About Kevin).

Vanessa Henman, a middle-aged British writer, flies from London to Uganda to attend an African writer' conference.

While in Uganda Vanessa also intends to vist her former cleaner, Mary Tendo, who is no the Executive Housekeeper of the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.

Mary Tendo has different plans. Without knowing Vanessa is in Kampal she has persuaded Vanessa's London based ex-husband, Trevor, a plumber, to go to her home village to build a new well.

Unable to find Mary, Vanessa takes a trip into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to see the mountain gorillas.

Insulting her driver, Vanessa is left stranded as war threatens Bwindi from the Congo. In a comedy of errors it's up to Trevor and Mary to come to her aid.
