Despite increasingly priding ourselves on our pristine appearances, new research reveals Australians can be sloppy – with a massive 40% of Aussies admitting they wouldn't be too bothered if they, their partner or children went out in public with stained clothes! Only 1 in 10 of us admit we would go straight home and change our outfits if we spotted a stain we hadn't noticed earlier.

The National Stain Survey, an Australia-wide study commissioned by Sard Wonder OxyPlus, revealed that Australians needs to clean up their act when it comes to spills and stains.

Surprisingly, the survey revealed that it's actually women who are the sloppiest in the battle of the sexes. According to the poll, over 40% of females admit to having to remove stains at least once a week, compared to just over a third of males surveyed.

Confessing there's always a splatter of sauce or a dribble of coffee or red wine to scrub out of their clothes, 39% of Aussies admit they have to remove stains from their clothes at least once a week, with 1 in 10 saying they have to remove stains every couple of days and 2% admitting it's a daily occurrence - without fail!

Nearly a quarter of NSW residents have no shame when it comes to venturing out in public in stained clothes, compared to 21% from VIC and QLD.

The study also found:
Almost 1 in 5 said it wouldn't be the end of the world if they, their partner or children went out with stained clothes and believe everyone goes out like that once in a while.
Only 5% of the nation find they never have to remove stains from clothes.
6% of Aussies admit they don't bother using stain removers on their clothes at all
