Solar Charging Station for Electric Vehicles

Solar Charging Station for Electric Vehicles

Australia's very first level two solar-powered charging station for electric cars will be launched at the Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies (CERES), Melbourne's prime urban environmental and ecological farm.

The solar charging station will be available for public use to generate clean and renewable electricity to power all major electric vehicles (EV) available in the market, as part of the Victorian Government's Electric Vehicle Trial.

The initiative has been achieved in collaboration with solar companies Delta Energy Systems, who donated the solar inverter, and Q.CELLS Australia, who donated twelve Q.PRO 235 modules. Q.CELLS Australia, one of the world's leading solar photovoltaics companies, is excited to showcase how the latest German engineering in sustainability developments can benefit the local community in Melbourne.

Julia Pfeiffer from Q.CELLS Australia says 'Donating the solar modules for the Solar Charging Station is our contribution to Victorians in order to provide access to clean and green energy, and to showcase truly carbon neutral transport options."

'As a leading solar PV company, it is our aim to make solar energy a viable, renewable energy source of the future. We want to support CERES in their great work to educate and teach the local community about the practical and easy to implement ways to lead a sustainable life," says Pfeiffer.

The ChargePoint station harnesses energy radiated from the sun through the modules donated by Q.CELLS Australia, which is then converted to electricity to power EVs. With a 16 kWh battery, a 15 amp car can travel approximately 100 km when fully charged.

Drivers are notified by SMS or email when their vehicles are fully charged or if there is an issue with the charging.

Q.CELLS is one of the world's leading photovoltaics companies and offers a wide range of photovoltaic solutions, from solar cells and modules to solar power plants.
