Sell your stuff for cancer !
Whether you host an online sale, car-boot sale, vintage market or a good old fashion garage sale, Cancer Council NSW is calling on individuals to help fight cancer this September through Sell It For Cancer Month.

During Sell It For Cancer Month you can clear your unwanted fashion, furniture or jewellery, do some spring cleaning, or sell your own personal designs for a good cause. You can choose to donate some or all of the funds you make to Cancer Council NSW, it's up to you.

Cancer Council Ambassador, model, actor, environmentalist and designer Annalise Braakensiek is backing the Sell it For Cancer cause by donating 25% of her online jewellery sales from her signature jewellery collection "Annalise" www.annalise.com.au

"The fantastic thing about Sell It For Cancer is that you can host your event in any format you like, for however long you like in the month of September. Whether you organise an online sale like I am, or a garage sale, Sell It For Cancer is a simple and fun way to help contribute to lowering the 36,600 diagnoses of cancer within NSW alone each year."

"Like many Australians I have personally been affected by cancer, sadly I have lost my darling father and aunty to cancer. I am passionate about doing everything I can to help stop this deadly disease from taking any more of our loved ones "

"The Sell It For Cancer campaign not only assists in decreasing the one in two Australians diagnosed with cancer before they are 85, it also helps tackle another major issue - waste management. By recycling your unwanted items and turning them into someone else's treasures, you are helping to lower our massive waste problem".

Funds will help Cancer Council NSW beat cancer through vital research, prevention campaigns and by providing information and support for patients, their families and friends.

Cancer Council NSW Sell It For Cancer registrations are now open and signing up is easy. Simply visit www.sellitforcancer.com.au or phone 1300 65 65 85.

Interview with Annalise Braakensiek

Question: Why did you decide to get involved in September - Sell It For Cancer Month and donate 25% of your online jewellery sales?

Annalise Braakensiek: I lost my darling Father and Aunty to cancer. I feel the least I can do is donate 25 per cent of my profits from my signature jewellery collection for the month of September. I'm also really passionate about creating awareness to help stop this deadly disease.

Question: What is the main reason for the Cancer Council NSW campaign Sell It For Cancer?

Annalise Braakensiek: Sell It For Cancer is a simple and fun way for people to do some spring cleaning while supporting the one in two Australians who will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.

We all have stuff which we want to get rid of, so why not clear the clutter for a good cause! The campaign not only fights cancer in our community it also tackles another major issue in society - waste management.

All funds raised will help Cancer Council NSW beat cancer through vital research, prevention campaigns and by providing information and support for patients, their families and friends.

Question: What advice do you have for Australians hosting their own fashion/vintage market for Sell It For Cancer Month?

Annalise Braakensiek: Prepare well, invite lots of friends, and have FUN and know you're doing a great thing at the same time.

Question: What do you enjoy most about garage sales and markets?

Annalise Braakensiek: Finding unique pieces, there's nothing like a fabulous vintage find - not only is it cheap, but I love the fact that no one else has it. Plus to know you're not helping pollute this beautiful planet even further by re-using and recycling is a good thing!

Question: How do you stay fit and healthy?

Annalise Braakensiek: I really love exercising and the feeling of eating well. I have a Personal Trainer Ashley from Flitefitness who whips me into line three times a week. I also do hot yoga at Body Mind Life, pilates and cardio at Elixr gym and coastal power walks, soft sand smash-ups and a good boogie interspersed.

I also eat a meat free organic diet and drink plenty of purified water.

Question: What tips do you have for Australians to keep fit and healthy, all year round to improve their health?

Annalise Braakensiek: Drink plenty of purified water and exercise regularly. I also really believe eating a meat free organic diet does wonders too.... oh, and have a good giggle at least once a day!

Question: What inspires you when designing for your jewellery collection?

Annalise Braakensiek: Love! My love of art, Native American design, Scandinavian design and of course my loved ones.

Question: What's next for you?

Annalise Braakensiek: I have lots on. I'm designing my signature lingerie collection, modelling, doing some TV work and working on my signature jewellery collection Annalise. Plus I'm also looking into re-opening Love Lunch (my organic vegetarian catering company again soon too). So it's rather mental at the moment to say the least!
