THE SPIRIT OF COUTURE
Conceptual glamour. Provocative couture. Unexpected elegance. These are the creative pillars that define the avant-garde house of Viktor&Rolf. Woven throughout the collections, the bow forms an iconic design symbol in the house's rich heritage and embodies the essence of the couture spirit. A ubiquitous symbol in fashion, the creative renderings and interpretations of the bow are diverse. The bow is playful and serious, delicate and strong, historic and contemporary. Wearing a bow represents a personal, decorative experience while unwrapping one signifies a celebratory occasion. Wearing Bonbon invokes a tactile often pleasurable - indulgence, one that ignites a moment of complete ecstasy.
Master craftsmen from renowned Pochet du Courval realised the exceptional one-of-a-kind Bonbon bottle. In the face of extreme technical difficulty, the glass bow was successfully rendered through an uncompromising and groundbreaking patent process. Staying true to
silhouette, the contours of the bow's design were shaded in pink tones with a precise degradé technique. Sculpted to perfection, the first scale model was handcrafted during an arduous design process of silhouette, scale and line development - much like the precision and craftsmanship involved in the creation of a couture garment. Professional expertise and experience achieved the perfect balance between the molding and the glass blowing, resulting in a proportioned, dynamic bow bottle.
Equipped with the most innovative techniques, the craftsmen raised the shoulder level of the bottle by injecting air to form the wings and folds of the bow. They ensured that the glass was blown evenly into every part of the complex mold, maintaining the central knot of the bow bottle as fine as technically possible.
After more than one year of work, the craftsmen have proved with this extraordinary bow bottle that the impossible is possible. Bonbon's precious glass bottle is wrapped in a luxurious, raspberry-toned box imprinted with the scent's black bow and Viktor&Rolf's signature seal.
Bonbon is delicious. Created with the intent to fuel desire through a scent so irresistible that one would deem it edible.
Traditionally reserved for delectably indulgent moments, bonbons are sweet and satisfying. Handcrafted bonbons are miniature quests for taste and bring quality to the mouth in the form of pure sensation.
Caramel notes translate this into an olfactory experience whilst harkening a sense of comfort for the traditional gourmandise ingredients of sugar and butter. The fragrance's caramel notes were met with an unexpected surprise for they were innovative and unconventional.
Bonbon is composed of sparkling, effervescent mandarin and orange slices - crystalized into crackling pieces of caramel wrapping succulent fruit.
The sweetness of paradise peach accord flirts tenderly with supple caramel notes, clinging to the roundness of peach's fleecy surface.
Sun-filled jasmine is sustained by orange blossom whose sweet flavor clings to the soft smell of caramel. The fragrance flows languidly across the skin, as caramel would generously drip over an indulgent dessert. Finally, gaïc and cedar woods blend into the base note to achieve a surprising balance between smooth, creamy, milky sandalwood notes and the upright, stronger and darker notes of woody amber. The rich brown facets of the caramel accord are tenderly overcooked. Caramel characterizes the scent's evolution. From inception to completion, the caramel notes mature from a sharp, edible top note to softer and milkier in the middle
then darkening to add depth to the base note. Serge Majoullier and Cécile Matton are the perfumers who worked with Viktor&Rolf to create Bonbon.
