When he can't bring himself to pull the trigger, the plan falls apart…and now both hitman and target are marked for death. Forming an uneasy alliance, they're relentlessly pursued across Europe while trying to stay alive, expose those responsible for brutally murdering her family and bring them to justice.

The Hunter's Prayer features an outstanding supporting cast including Odeya Rush (Goosebumps, The Giver), Martin Compston (Filth, The Disappearance of Alice Creed) and Allen Leech (TVs Downton Abbey, The Imitation Game). The film was produced by Full Clip Productions, the company set up by Worthington in 2010, along with brothers John and Michael Schwarz. The Hunter's Prayer is their first feature film.

After being introduced to the Kevin Wignall novel For The Dogs in 2009 the production team set about bringing the story to the screen. 'We were attracted to the book because of the dynamic between Lucas and Ella," Michael Schwarz explains. 'You've got this hitman who's climbing out of this dark place, and then this innocent young girl who's being pulled into this darker place."

It's these opposing arcs that inspired the team to develop it into a saw-toothed revenge feature with enough potential to pique the interest of celebrated director Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3, Breakdown and U-571). But it was Sam Worthington's passion that provided the true impetus for Mostow to get involved. 'I'd been a huge admirer of Sam's work," Jonathan says. 'I felt that he had something that hadn't been completely exploited by other filmmakers. He's done amazing work in so many movies."

As the leading man in the highest-grossing film of all time, Sam Worthington is a multifaceted performer, capable of fronting enormous blockbuster action movies like Avatar, Clash of the Titans and Terminator Salvation, as well as critically acclaimed TV dramas like Love My Way and Deadline Gallipoli – the latter of which he also produced with Full Clip. On working with Mostow, Worthington said, 'Jonathan's a great collaborator. When he comes prepared and allows us to play and discover then I think that's a sign of a great director who's confident in his own craft and confident with his actors".

With its subversive take on the genre, The Hunter's Prayer is a modern action thriller, driven more by character development than derivative set pieces. For Sam, it was always about seeking the truth. 'Action movies are normally: stand there, blow shit up, shoot the gun, run. It's never normally why," he says. 'Would you really want to pull your gun out at this point? What's the emotional state you're in? When all the bombs and the bells and whistles are going off, what's going on in these two people's hearts?"
