Sun can play havoc with your hair
Hints for Healthy Hair

Hello again Femailers - Kate here from Adore Beauty http://www.adorebeauty.com.au, bringing you another Femail Beauty Spot. Summer is still sizzling, but all those days on the beach and in the sun can play havoc with your hair! If your locks are feeling more like straw than silk, check out these great tips to get back that healthy, shiny hair.

  • A leave-in treatment spray can help protect your hair from the harsh rays of the sun, as well as helping to repair cuticle damage and porosity. If you don't like the greasy feel of leave-in conditioners, spray them on in the evening and leave them on overnight, so you can wash them out in the morning and have shiny hair all day. Alternatively, look for a leave-in spray that is oil free, such as Kusco-Murphys dry leave in

  • For that's super-dry, with split ends and frizz, try this easy, cheap hot oil treatment:
Dampen your hair, then massage through lots of sweet almond oil (from a health food store), concentrating on the ends. Put a towel in the microwave for 2 minutes, then wrap it around your head like a turban and leave on for 10 minutes. Then just shampoo the oil out, condition as normal, and voila! Your hair will be silky, soft, and well moisturised. Tip: Add a few drops of lavender oil to the almond oil, for super shine and a gorgeous scent!

  • If your hair is starting to look dull and lank due to buildup of styling products or chlorine, simply add a teaspoon of bicarb soda to your regular shampoo. This will remove any product residue and leave your hair feeling squeaky-clean. Alternatively, try rinsing your hair in apple cider vinegar - it doesn't smell great, but works wonders to improve your hair's shine!
