Monkey Magic

Monkey Magic

The "irrepressible" Monkey is back in a brand new adventure! Again we find our favourite companions on their journey headed west.

On the way they encounter a beautiful princess Reimi from the Tiger Kingdom which has been ravaged and turned into a desert wasteland by two evil brothers (one of whom is played by IRON CHEF's "Chairman" Kaga). To defeat the brothers, they travel to the mountains of northern China to retrieve a magical Dragon Ball-like orb.

Along the journey they meet many dangers and challenges and the evil might of the Gold and Silver King brothers. Can the Monkey king, Son Goku, find the orb and defeat the demon brothers before they cast the world into eternal darkness?

Monkey Magic

Genre: Action/Adventure
Runtime: 116.0 mins

In the world before Monkey, primal chaos reigned. Heaven sought order, but the phoenix can fly only when it's feathers are grown. The four worlds formed again and yet again, as endless aeons wheeled and passed. Time and the pure essences of Heaven all worked upon a certain rock, old as creation. It became magically fertile. The first egg was named "Thought". Tathagata Buddha, the Father Buddha said "With our thoughts, we make the world". Elemental forces caused the egg to hatch. From it came a stone monkey.

Review: For those of you who can remember battling with parents to watch Monkey Magic while the news was on, this is a real treat. A blast from the past that pathed the way for so many martial arts movies to make it in mainstream cinemas and tv. Monkey Magic is a classic, mixing fantasy, martial arts and magic to make an extraordinary series about Monkey, Sandy, Pigsy, Tripitaka & Yu Lang (the horse) and their quest to India.

Monkey, Sandy, Pigsy & Yu Lang are ordered to protect Tripitaka on his journey to India to retrieve the scriptures. Tripikata does not fight with Monkey and is a peaceful character, who always wants to help. Through the use of the headache sutra, he has control over Monkey so can force him to help whenever he is less than cooperative.

The 3 friends Monkey, Sandy & Pigsy are always up to mischief attracting attention when they are trying to avoid it.
