Lancome Colour Design Awards 06

International Final -
May 11th 2006 -
Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris

On May 11th 2006, the first ever international final of the Lancôme Colour Designs Awards fashion contest took place at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, bringing together nine participating countries: Australia, Canada, China, France, Israel, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and the Netherlands.

This contest, which was initiated in 2001, gathered this year twenty six finalists around the same theme: the Lancôme make-up as a source of inspiration for young fashion creation. The brand collaborated with the best fashion schools in each of the participating countries: The University of Technology in Sydney, the Academy of Arts & Design in Tsinghua University in China, Studio Berçot in France, Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Israel, the Bunka Fashion College in Japan, Esmod in Korea, and the Arnhem Fashion Institute in the Netherlands.

The prestigious judging panel comprised: Sarah Lerfel (artistic director at Colette), Floriane de Saint-Pierre (talent "discoverer" in the luxury industry), Inès Sastre (actress and Lancôme spokesperson), Vanessa Seward (Azzaro artistic director), André (graffiti artist), Alber Elbaz (Lanvin artistic director), Jean-Paul Goude (photographer), Felipe Oliveira Baptista (fashion designer) and Kenzo Takada (fashion designer).

During the deliberation held on the morning of May 11th, the judging panel chose the 2005/2006 edition Grand Prize winner. Dan Gonen, age 27, master level student at the Arnhem Fashion Institute (the Netherlands) received the Grand Prize of the Jury for the mini collection he designed.

After the fashion show which showcased all the finalists creations, the Grand Prize of the Jury was given by Gucci Westman, Lancômes artistic director for make-up, surrounded by Daria Werbowy, Inès Sastre and Marc Dubrule, Lancôme International Chief Executive Officer. The twenty thousand euro prize, which Dan Gonen will receive from Lancôme, will enable him to make his first steps as a professional in the fashion industry.

The alliance of fashion and make-up was further celebrated by a grand party animated by Ariel Wizman, Michel Gaubert and Pedro Winter. The members of the jury as well as numerous other opinion leaders honoured us with their presence (Andrée Putman, Ellen von Unwerth, David Hamilton, Vincent Daré, Olivier Chatenet, and Lord Kossity).

The make-up looks of the fashion show were created by Gucci Westman and the hair styling by Odile Gilbert.
