Australian botanical extract manufacturer, Native Extracts Pty Ltd, announces a world breakthrough - their advanced 'cellular" extraction process does the unexpected - stabilises Vitamin C for extended periods in an aqueous matrix, redefining expectations in Cosmetic product performance. This breakthrough will have enormous global impact on future directions for products and consumer benefits in the Cosmetic, Pharmaceutical and Nutriceutical industries.
Vitamin C is notorious for being highly unstable and dissipates rapidly in solutions; questioning whether the full benefits can actually be delivered in many products. Vitamin C is used extensively in Cosmetic & Pharmaceutical products for its powerful antioxidant & anti-inflammatory properties; it promotes collagen and behaves like an AHA. 'Independent scientific analysis reports Native Extracts' advanced extraction process delivers what the Cosmetic industry has been waiting for; a natural source of highly stable Vitamin C so their products can deliver the full benefits of this superior antioxidant.", says Ross Macdougald, CEO Native Extracts.
'Our process is unique, it pulls out more bio-compounds and activity than traditional extraction methods. We capture the Vitamin C in Kakadu Plum, and the Phenolic Acids, Gallic acid & Ellagic acid which appear to assist the stabilization as well as delivering their own powerful benefits for skin care lines", says Mr Macdougald.
Southern Cross University recently retested a 12 mth old sample of Native Extracts' Kakadu Plum extract to find 'Qualitative comparison of the Vitamin C content of the Native Extracts Kakadu Plum Extract after approximately 12 months indicates that little degradation has occurred. This is unexpected in an aqueous solution, as Vitamin C typically degrades rapidly in this medium. This result suggests that the Native Extracts Kakadu Plum extract contains other compounds which stabilise Vitamin C. This result was entirely unexpected and as such quantitative analysis of Vitamin C content was not examined in our original analysis. " says Mr Ashley Dowell, Manager – Southern Cross Plant Science, Analytical Research Laboratory.
