Crostini (Soup Dippers)
  1. Cut a crusty bread stick* into 1cm angled slices.
  2. Brush with olive oil, season with freshly ground salt and black pepper.
  3. Place on a lined baking tray.
  4. Bake at 200°C until golden - approximately 3 minutes on each side.

Other Tasty Topping Options
  • Add 1-2 cloves of crushed garlic to the oil before brushing bread slices.
  • Top the bread slices with grated parmesan cheese, after brushing with olive oil and prior to baking.
  • Add 2 tsps of basil or sundried tomato pesto to your oil before brushing bread slices.
  • Add 2 tsps of your favourite fresh herb (basil, thyme, rosemary, dill) to your oil before brushing bread slices.
  • Add 1 tsp of ground chilli pepper or ground cumin to your oil before brushing bread slices.

* Choose from the following selection of breads to prepare the Crostini: French bread stick, Sourdough bread stick or ciabatta loaf. Alternately, use pita bread, flour tortillas, lavash or Turkish bread, cut into desired shapes.

Storage
Crostini can be kept in an airtight container for up to a week or frozen in a plastic bag, defrosted and heated anytime. Enjoy!

Top your favourite Heinz Soup with a pastry case. This is a really easy, but different presentation for your soup. Fill your soup bowls three quarters with your favourite Heinz Soup. Cut puff pastry into rounds to cover the soup bowls, allowing 1cm to overhang the bowl. Brush the edge of the soup bowl with egg yolk. Top with the pastry circle. Press edges to secure to the bowl. Glaze with remaining egg yolk. Bake 200ºC for 10-15 minutes, or until golden.

For added flavour and colour to your favourite Heinz Soup...
Garnish with a spoonful of home-made pesto. Pesto is very simple to prepare, simply process 1 cup of fresh herbs (basil, mint, coriander, parsley), with pine nuts, parmesan cheese and garlic until smooth. Add a thin stream of olive oil to the food processor until a smooth paste forms.
