DON'T FEAR EASTER KILOS: MEAL REPLACEMENTS GET STAMP OF APPROVAL

With at least one in every two Australian adults now considered obese or overweight*, celebrity fitness trainer, Dean Piazza, says those who are trying to lose or maintain their weight don't need to sacrifice the Easter eggs this year.

A former international triathlete and founder of the innovative online personal training website www.getfit.com.au, Dean Piazza has teamed up with Ultra Slim to help the growing percentage of Australians, who are overweight, lose weight and get fit, through the help of meal replacements and a targeted fitness program.

The Ultra Slim meal replacement program replaces a maximum of two meals per day with nutritionally balanced shakes, soups and snacks.

The National Health and Medical Research Council recommends the use of low energy meal replacement products to assist weight loss.** The Dietitians Association of Australia agrees, saying partial meal replacements seem to be safe, acceptable to patients and more effective over the long term than most other diet-based weight loss techniques.^

"People who are trying to lose or maintain a healthy weight should be realistic when approaching the Easter holidays. Even normally restrained people give in to the temptation of chocolate eggs," Dean Piazza says.

"I recommend people prepare themselves for what's to come, eat in moderation, then undergo a safe weight loss technique, such as a meal replacement program combined with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, teamed with regular exercise until the weight has been shifted.

The Medical Journal of Australia says that as well as being generally cheaper than other weightloss programs, meal replacements have also been proven to have huge benefits for diabetics due to controlled glucose levels, and they also provide an easy, inexpensive way to administer and supervise weight loss.

It also says the use of a meal replacement diet commonly results in weight loss of around 9 - 10 per cent of total body weight in the first 6 - 12 months. This compares to 3 - 7 per cent loss of total body weight with other popular forms of diet plans.^^

"Ultra Slim users can to lose up to 1kg per week with an Ultra Slim healthy eating plan and drop a dress size within five weeks, or even fit in a few Easter eggs without gaining weight!" Dean Piazza says.

"Although the development of these products allows us to safely and effectively lose weight, we need to avoid dragging the 'indulgence' period out, to avoid falling into a diet danger zone. Easter Sunday is one day, not five, so treat yourself then move on," he says.

Dean Piazza and Ultra Slim offer the following tips to enjoy Easter without sacrificing your diet:

1. Prepare yourself - instead of ignoring Easter, prepare for it by setting aside a day of Easter indulgence and allowing yourself to look forward to it.

2. Set yourself a limit - Whether it's one chocolate egg or 10, just remember whatever you eat you will have to lose!

3. Enjoy the occasion - There is no need to feel guilty, just enjoy the day but try and stick to your limit.

4. Don't push it - After rewarding yourself with a day of chocolate eating, remember it's time to move on. The kids might be still snacking on eggs, but that doesn't mean you should. Commence your weight loss plan, such as the Ultra Slim meal replacement program, immediately.

5. When the cravings hit, choose guilt-free snack solutions like Ultra Slim Tasty Lite Bars, they contain 45 per cent less fat than a regular chocolate bar.

6. Get encouragement and support through an online fitness program such as www.getfit.com.au.

Ultra Slim, in partnership with Dean Piazza and exclusive to Coles and Bi-Lo supermarkets, are offering six people the chance to win a virtual personal trainer for a year, as well as a year's supply of Ultra Slim product. See specially marked Ultra Slim packs for details.
