Tim Atlas Crime Of Passion

Tim Atlas Crime Of Passion

Los Angeles based singer, songwriter and producer Tim Atlas extends his Australian ties, teaming up with Melbourne-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Alice Ivy for a remix of his lead single 'Crime Of Passion' - taken from the Together Lonely EP.

"I loved Alice Ivy's take on this one." says Tim "It's fun for me as a listener because she reinvented the song in a really cool, unexpected way. I thought the original was high energy, but she turned it all the way to 11."

Tim is known for his unique brand of R&B-infused indie-pop. Often compared to acts like Toro y Moi x Rex Orange County, his unique blend has lead to over 30-million streams and tours across the US and Europe. Tim's 2019 seven-track EP Together Lonely (featuring singles Tangerine and Sidestep) received coverage from  Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Radio 1, Foundation fm, Sirius XMU, and Rage. As well as coverage on Complex, Paste, Earmilk, OnestoWatch, Line of Best Fit, and more.

Using his time in isolation, Tim has revitalized the EP, releasing remixes from around the world, infused with upbeat, dance grooves and infectious drops. Sonically, the EP navigates its way through syrupy electronics, drawing on a scintillating network of R&B-infused indie-pop and woozy atmospherics. Thematically, Atlas draws heavily on colour as representative of different auras, with orange being representative of someone understated and quiet whilst beautiful and compelling. The collection is intended as a bonding exercise between similar lonely and introverted souls across the globe. Drawing on his experience of having social anxiety and navigating the demands of an outgoing and social discipline, Atlas offers a reminder that whatever energy -- whatever colour -- you give, is perfect.

Like her contemporaries Mark Ronson and KAYTRANADA, Alice Ivy sits at the intersection of producer and tastemaker. Alice Ivy has grown into one of Australian electronica's most prominent advocates for female producers, putting her in step with other tireless voices such as KUČKA and Grimes. A revered collaborator, Alice Ivy has worked with the likes of Thelma Plum, Ecca Vandal, Ngaiire, Benjamin Joseph of Safia, Odette, Bertie Blackman, Imbi and now ads Tim to the list.

Of the track, Alice Ivy says "When I first heard the original I loved the chord progression and production, it's stunning! I began to really focus on recreating the atmospheric soundscape the original had but was thinking I could put a bit more edge to it in the choruses. At the time I was listening to a lot of old school Justice and exploring a lot of harsher synth sounds. So that's where the chorus drop inspiration came from."
