ARIA-nominated Australian singer-songwriter, Kita Alexander has today released her highly anticipated sophomore albumRAGE, via Warner Music Australia.ListenHERE.
Kita Alexander's sophomore album RAGE is a reclamation of self. After a lifetime of silencing her feelings and instincts to fit the societal mold expected of women, Kita reached her breaking point. Drawing inspiration from her own life and shared experiences of others, Kita sheds her good girl expectations, searches within, and embraces her rage to meet her truest self. Speaking on RAGE, Kita said, "Rage has been the catalyst of positive change in my life over the last couple of years. The album is about an emotion I've always had but never understood. It's me looking at it and embracing it as a new friend and realising that I don't have to shut it down or avoid looking at it. Rage has helped me find what truly matters to me and to change my life in ways that work for me."
Ultimately, Alexander's self-reflection creates a space where there is beauty in sharing, one that leads to positivity and support. Kita further shares, "Accepting myself exactly the way I am"I do get angry, I am someone whose rage is bubbling under the surface, I'm ready to go." It is a reminder that while rage can be all-encompassing, it can also be a powerful vehicle on the path toward radical self-acceptance. RAGE was recorded live at Rockinghorse Studios in Byron Bay with producer ChrisCollins, with no digital synths, and was crafted with Kita's live show firmly in mind - ensuring the songs translate seamlessly to the stage. Mixed by OliJacobs and mastered by RuairiO'Flaherty, the album also sees Kita collaborating with PJHarding (Noah Cyrus), EhrenEbbage (Lizzie McAlpine and Myles Smith), JamieScott (Major Lazer and Justin Bieber), DanBryer (Niall Horan), and longtime collaborator ShungudzoKuyimba (Teddy Swims and Little Mix) to craft its distinctive sound. Last night, Kita received a first play on triple j for the album's next single, 'Worth It'.The track is an upbeat, honest, and funk-fused pop anthem that demands to be heard. Written and produced in Kita's home of Byron Bay, the track blends high-energy musicality with emotional lyricism"tying a perfect bow on this raw, 70s-inspired, sun-soaked album. Speaking on 'Worth It',Kitasaid: "I've become a girl who, since the first song on this record, has acknowledged that it's okay to not be easy and palatable. It's okay to be difficult and kick up a stink, It's worth opening my mouth. It's worth saying something. The result is, if both people in the relationship are voicing their feelings then change can come, things can get better."
Kita will take the record on the road around Australia, Europe and the UK. The RAGE Tour will kick off in Melbourne on September 12, with shows in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth to follow, before Kita heads to Europe from October 14 and wraps up in the UK on October 23.
