Laura Frank Announces Debut Album, Releases Single 'How Do We'

Laura Frank Announces Debut Album, Releases Single 'How Do We'
Continuing to blaze a trail through 2026, Brisbane songwriter and performer LAURA FRANK has today announced LIFE IN THE FRONT SEAT, her debut studio album set for release later this year on October 7th. To celebrate, she shares another slice of heartfelt alt-country music with new single, 'HOW DO WE'.

Following on from previous releases 'Get What We Deserve' and 'God Knows, I Know', this new release further explores Laura's sharp blend of emotional lyricism and inviting music; 'How Do We' is equal parts hard-hitting and vulnerable. For Laura, being able to strip things back in navigating a story of a broken down relationship like this, led to one of her favourite creative processes to date.

The song, shining with its intimacy, stands as another strong release from the artist - another example of why Laura Frank has become in recent years, a powerful songwriter to watch. Working with producer Jordan Power at Bernard Fanning's custom-built recording studio in Brooklet, NSW, Laura fleshed this song out with the input of a dream team of musicians including Grant Gerathy (John Butler Trio), Michael Moko (Kasey Chambers, Fanny Lumsden), Jason Daniels (The Dreggs), Ollie Thorpe (Troy Cassar-Daley), Nick Morrissey and Mike Mills. Also heard on this song, are talented singers Jen Mize and Kaitlyn Thomas, adding to the emotional weight of 'How Do We' with backing vocals.

"'How Do We' is, in its simplest form, a song about a relationship breakdown " but more specifically, it's about that moment when you've reached the end of the road and you genuinely don't know what comes next. Do we fix it? Can we? Do we stay or do we go?

It's a song full of questions because that's exactly what that moment feels like " you don't have the answers, you just have the weight of everything that's broken and the impossible task of figuring out what to do with it. The title says it all, really. 'How Do We' " we didn't even know how to finish the sentence."
LAURA FRANK

Frank explains that the time she spent with the team in the studio recording the album was the perfect environment for her creative process, saying "We recorded Life In The Front Seat at Brooklet Recording " one of my favourite places on earth. It's the kind of space that lets you switch off from everything else and commit fully to what you're creating, and that's exactly what we did. Two weeks, nearly a decade of songs, and some of my favourite people in the world.

We recorded with long-time collaborators Grant Gerathy, Mike Mills, and the rest of the wonderful band " and the process was exactly what I love most about making music. Everyone in the room together, live tracking, throwing ideas around, seeing what sticks. Some of what you hear on this album is a full band live take " just us, sitting in a room, playing and figuring it out in real time. That energy is irreplaceable."

With a sound that evokes the likes of Grace Potter and Brandi Carlile, Laura has developed a strong following off the back of incredible live shows nationwide; shows that have spoken to the core of her heart-led music. As a headliner, Laura has dominated the country's live circuit, while also sharing the stage with artists such as Brad Cox, James Blundell and Melanie Dyer. She has also made appearances at festivals such as Tamworth Country Music Festival, Gympie Music Muster and the Groundwater Country Music Festival. In 2026 Laura has already completed a massive 60-date Australian tour, all the while preparing for the release of LIFE IN THE FRONT SEAT.

To celebrate the release of 'How Do We', Laura will be performing an intimate release show at White Chapel in Kalbar QLD on June 24th. On top of that, she'll be performing at the Deni Ute Muster in October later this year.
