    Interview with Jill Brown

How does this book help everyday women fight temptations?

Jill Brown: Temptation Busters helps everyday women win the fight with their food demons by revealing:
The internal biological cues that drive us to overeat and the ways we justify our cravings to ourselves
The insidious external cues that keep us eating from clever food marketing to oversized portion sizes.
And it provides helpful, practical strategies that help them put mind over muffin and become boss of the bikkie-tin - for good!

What is the biggest mistake most women make in regards to giving into temptations?

Jill Brown: The biggest mistake most women make is telling themselves 'I deserve it.' Lots of treats marketed to them (think: chocolate, frozen desserts) stress indulgence, going to a happy place and taking a me-moment. Me-moments don't have to be about sugary food! Calling your mother, going for an evening walk or luxuriating in a pedicure - finding other special activities for when the going gets tough is what you have to do for successful Temptation Busters.

How has working alongside those who have lost large amounts of weight in the public eye, on The Biggest Loser, helped ensure this book provides relevant information for all audiences?

Jill Brown: The contestants from the Biggest Loser who generously contributed their time to this book are ordinary folk with normal lives. Once the cameras stopped rolling, they have all had to maintain their stupendous weight-loss without ready-prepared, calorie-controlled meals or Commando Steve turfing them out of bed in the middle of the night for a training session! They know only too well how difficult it is to fight temptation every day and stay in control. Their insights are thoughtful and realistic and audiences everywhere can learn from their hard-won experience.

What is your favourite healthy snack?

Jill Brown: An apple smeared with almond butter (peanut butter is yummy too; just make sure your brand does not contain added sugar). The apple is a little anti-oxidant bomb that bursts with natural sweetness. The almond nut butter is rich with heart-healthy goodness: vitamin E, calcium and phosphorus. It also contains protein, which is satisfying and controls your appetite for longer than carbs. And both apple and almond butter contain fibre, which is good for your guts. Low-energy density + high nutrition + divine taste = perfect snack!
