Gilgooma Farm Stays in NSW

Gilgooma Farm Stays in NSW

Nestled of the edge of the Australian outback is Gilgooma, a quintessential working Australian family farm spanning 12,500 acres, set against the backdrop of rugged bush beauty and sprawling landscapes.

Owned and occupied by three generations of farmers, Gilgooma has swung open the farm gate and is taking bookings for an unforgettable experience.

Gilgooma offers a unique opportunity to connect with the land and be immersed in the tranquillity and sometimes trials of rural life.

Pip Goldsmith, Gilgooma farmer and farm stay host, explains why the family decided to share their farm with guests.

"Gilgooma isn't just where we live and work. It's a place of landscapes, wide skies, wildlife and heart. This country can be harsh, but there's a true Australian beauty about it that stubbornly shines through," Pip said.

"We want to share Gilgooma with people because it's special; this is a place we depend on for our livelihoods, and it's the country that allows us to produce what we do." Gilgooma provides a low-impact camping experience on a family-run property, allowing guests to unwind amidst the untouched beauty of the Australian bush. Guests can choose from unpowered camp sites, limited powered sites, or cozy cabin accommodations, each offering a private space under starry skies.

From meandering along tranquil creek beds to exploring rugged trails on bikes, Gilgooma offers a myriad of activities for guests to create their own adventures. Visitors can bird watch, stargaze from the shearer's stretchers or embark on self-guided tours to uncover hidden gems within the farm and its surrounding areas.

For those seeking a deeper understanding of farm life, personalised farm tours are available, providing an immersive experience alongside the family.

Lucy Moss, President of the Coonamble Chamber of Commerce and owner of Buy from the Bush star retailer Mink + Me, said the opening of the new agritourism venture showcased the strengths of the wider region.

"The Gilgooma offering not only provides visitors with an authentic taste of rural Australian life but also contributes to the growth of the country visitor economy," Lucy said.

"We're not just on the way to somewhere else. This gives people a reason to stop and stay in rural communities and have a real country experience. It's the holiday you didn't know you were searching for and we're looking forward to welcoming more visitors to explore the beauty of the Australian bush."

Pet and family friendly, Gilgooma is expected to be a popular place as Easter and school holidays approach.
