Darcy Piltz Returns with Anthemic New Single 'Wishing Your Life Away'
Central Coast singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Darcy Piltz has today released his latest single 'Wishing Your Life Away'; a grunge-tinged pop-punk tune that reflects on all the highs and lows of being in your 20s.

Sonically aligned with bands such as Dear Seattle, Slowly Slowly, Luca Brasi and Sly Withers, Darcy manages to combine uplifting, emotive lyricism and crunchy, hard-hitting riffs perfectly on the track - laying it all out on the table with a passionate vocal performance.

On the songs lyrics, Darcy explains "This track really hones in on being in your 20's. Everything feels crazy and chaotic, people are having kids and buying houses, others are really just getting started on their own story. It's about working those shit jobs to try and make money to do the things you want. At it's core, this song is about trying to be present and appreciate what you've achieved so far, before immediately trying to chase the next 'thing'. Feels like a bit of a 'note to self' to remember what it's all about and trying not to get caught up in the rush."

Mixed and produced by Toby Wells at Sonara Studios with mastering from Jack Nigro (Rum Jungle, Vacations, The Terry's) - Darcy, who played all instruments on the recording, describes his time in the studio and guidance from the Sonora team as a crucial part of the process that helped him bring the idea to life.

"Wishing Your Life Away came about super easily. I wrote and recorded everything you hear on this one (same as all my other songs). Like all my tracks it was born from mucking around with chord progressions on my guitar at home in my little studio. Most of the time, I'm writing about things I've felt or things I've seen others go through, and this one was the same.

Once the lyrics were fleshed out, I jumped straight onto doing the demo as I felt something special was in this song. The drums probably took me the longest to work out as I wanted to get them perfect, and I think taking the time to figure them out really paid off. After sending Toby (producer/mixer) the world's shittiest demo of the track, we jumped into Sonora Studios and pumped it out in 1 day and everything went smooth as butter. Luckily Toby saw the vision, and he crushed it with the production and mix. Doing it all myself can sometimes be stressful but Sonora Studios is starting to feel like home!"
