Review: Hemp seeds contain amazing nutritional properties which is why I was so excited to try the Chocolate Hemp Heart Bites. These bite sized goodies are delicious and make healthy snacking very easy! I've kept my third bag of these delightful goodies in my gym bag so that I can eat one or two before and after a training session instead of my traditional protein shake. I've been nibbling on the Cinnamon flavour Hemp Heart Bites before bed too as they make the perfect dessert.

Review: The Hemp Heart Toppers are SO YUM! I've been sprinkling it on top of my yoghurt to combine the nutrition of hemp and to give my morning yoghurt another element of texture and taste especially as the Hemp Heart Toppers are a healthier version of most mueslis.

Question: What are the main nutritional benefits of hemp products?
Manitoba Harvest: It's simple: protein and omegas! Hemp has proven to be one of the most nutritiously dense foods on the planet. Hemp's protein profile is comparable to many types of meat, dairy, fish, and poultry, making it an excellent dietary protein source for vegetarians and vegans. What's really unique to hemp is its closest to the ideal ratio of omega six to omega three essential fatty acids. Omega-6 Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) has been shown to help with cholesterol, inflammation, skin and hair health, balancing hormones, and general heart health. Hemp foods also contain magnesium, fibre, iron, zinc, and phosphorous.
Question: Why has the interest in the health properties of hemp products recently spiked?
Manitoba Harvest: The benefits of hemp have been a little-known secret for hundreds of years, but 239 years later, this ultra-versatile super seed is finally gaining traction as a food ingredient. Shoppers are beginning to become educated on hemp, understand that food can be your medicine, look for a more complete plant-based protein source and discover new delicious applications to add some nutrition to meals. We've seen a spike in incorporating and adding hemp to simple meals and using it as plant-based protein options.
Question: What is hemp?
Manitoba Harvest: Hemp is a species of Cannabis sativa but hemp is not the same as marijuana and hemp foods will not cause psychoactive effects. Hemp is a super plant! There are hundreds, if not thousands, of uses for hemp but we at Manitoba Harvest are focused exclusively on the seed, which we use to make delicious and nutritionally rich hemp foods.
Question: How can we add hemp seeds in our typical meals?
Manitoba Harvest: Our Hemp Hearts and Toppers are perfect for adding to any of your favorite sweet or savory dishes – they are great toppers for soups, salads, oatmeal and yogurt. Our Proteins are great for smoothies and smoothie bowls. We have collection of delicious recipes and inspiration on our website – Manitobaharvest.com.
Question: What inspired the creation of Manitoba Harvest?
Manitoba Harvest: Our Founder Mike Fata, used to weigh over 300 pounds and was sick and tired of being sick and tired. When he decided it was time for a change, he overhauled his diet, focusing on protein, good fats, and fibre – all nutrients found in hemp foods! Since hemp foods played such an essential role in Mike's health transformation, he wanted everyone to be able to enjoy them.
Question: Can you tell us about Manitoba Harvest products?
Manitoba Harvest: If you've never tried hemp hearts, they are similar to a chia or flax seed but with twice the amount of protein and omegas and are lower in carbohydrates. With a deliciously nutty taste and satisfying texture, they offer a nutritional punch to any of your favorite snacks and recipes.
At Manitoba Harvest we know how to unlock the power of the hemp seed better than anyone because we take a seed to shelf approach, controlling everything from what hemp seed gets planted, to how products are manufactured, packaged, and distributed.
