HighDiamond Fairytale Interview

HighDiamond is a singing, dancing sister act made up of Catina and Angela Duscio. Recognised at a young age for their outstanding dance ability, stage presence and genuine personalities, it is no wonder that HighDiamond have sung and danced their way into the playlists of many. Working with some of the greatest managers and producers in the music scene, these girls are ready to make the stage sparkle!

HighDiamond are extremely talented. Not only are they great singers and dancers, they also have great personalities! Their passion for fashion also shines through and their high-sparkle outfits during performances give their image that extra shine!

Interview with Catina and Angela Duscio

Question: How would you describe HighDiamond?

Catina and Angela Duscio: We are a Canadian sister pop duo and we have been performing our whole lives, so we love putting on a show. You can expect glam, sparkle and a good time from us.


Question: What was the main inspiration behind the track Fairytale?

Catina and Angela Duscio: It's the realization that your life isn't what you dreamed it would be. Life isn't the fairytale you imagined growing up. It's about being true to who you are and fighting for what you want.


Question: Do you write your own songs? What's your inspiration?

Catina and Angela Duscio: Yes, we write our songs but we also love to co-write with other artists. Our inspirations come from all of our experiences. The songs that we write are true to our lives.


Question: What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?

Catina and Angela Duscio: We listen to so many different artists. We love everything from jazz to hip hop and top 40s.


Question: What's next? Tour/Album/Single?

Catina and Angela Duscio: We're currently wrapping up our first EP and we are planning our first tour that we believe will be an amazing experience.


Question: Was there a moment you contemplated throwing in the towel?

Catina and Angela Duscio: We don't believe in giving up. We've had bumps in the road but nothing that we couldn't handle. This is our dream. We won't give up.


Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Catina and Angela Duscio: Each one has its perks, we love them both but performing live really makes our music come alive. The thrill of performing live is exhilarating.


Question: What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Catina and Angela Duscio: Ever since we were little girls, our dream was to one day be like the Spice Girls or Pussy Cat Dolls!

Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

Catina and Angela Duscio: Knowing who you can trust. Sometimes people turn out to be the complete opposite of who you thought they were. Although people can mislead us we still focus on the good in them.


Question: What's a typical day like?

Catina and Angela Duscio: Wake up to music blasting (thank you, alarm clock!), eat a healthy breakfast, hit the gym, go to the recording studio, vocal lessons and show prep, teaching dance classes and then home. We love TV shows, so you always have to throw an episode or two before bed.


Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Catina and Angela Duscio: Entertaining our fans and putting smiles on faces!


Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Catina and Angela Duscio: Katy Perry!

Catina and Angela Duscio: There's always a bright side, so shine bright like a diamond.


Question: What is the story behind the band's name?

Catina and Angela Duscio: Growing up as competitive dancers we'd go into competition shooting for the highest mark. Usually it was a diamond award. As we grew as dancers and started receiving that diamond award, we had to make higher goals to strive for. Hence the name HighDiamond! Aiming to be better than the best :) There's always something you can improve!
