Hiding ABC TV's New Thriller Goes Into Production

A Gold Coast family forced into witness protection must build a new life in a strange city, aware that any link with friends or relatives could lead a killer to their door. HIDING, an eight hour series for ABC TV, begins filming Monday 11 August.

Produced by Playmaker for ABC TV, the outstanding ensemble cast includes James Stewart (Packed to the Rafters), Kate Jenkinson (The Time of Our Lives, Offspring, House Husbands), Lincoln Younes (Home & Away, Tangle) and introducing Olivia DeJonge, as the Quigg family. Stephen Curry (Time of Our Lives, Redfern Now, The Cup), Nathan Page (Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Underbelly: Squizzy), Jodi Gordon (Underbelly: Badness, The Cup), Kim Gyngell (Lowdown, The Straits, The Librarians), and Jacqueline McKenzie (The Water Diviner) also star.

Created and written by Matt Ford, HIDING is directed by Shawn Seet (The Code, Love Child), Tori Garrett (The Time of Our Lives, Wonderland) and Grant Brown (Janet King, House Husbands, Love Child 2). Produced by Playmaker's David Maher and David Taylor with Diane Haddon and Matt Ford, HIDING is executive produced by the ABC's David Ogilvy and Greer Simpkin.

Playmaker's David Taylor and David Maher said, 'Matt Ford has created a funny, warm, high stakes drama about a family on the run given a second chance to stay together. HIDING has a ton of heart meshed with Matt's unique brand of dark humour, and we're proud to be producing it for the ABC."

ABC TV Head of Fiction Carole Sklan said, 'HIDING places an emotionally complex family drama at the heart of a gripping crime thriller. Playmaker and Matt Ford have brought a highly original voice to a story of how resilient, even joyful, ordinary people can be when faced with an unimaginable threat."

A Playmaker production for ABC TV, HIDING was developed through the Scribe Initiative and is produced with the assistance of Screen Australia, Screen NSW and Screen Queensland.
