Crystal Cities I Hear A Cold Wind Calling

Sydney-based Dream Rock band, Crystal Cities have been on a high lately after releasing their acclaimed debut album, Under the Cold Light of the Moon. Now the trio are back with a music video for the album's second single, "I Hear a Cold Wind Calling".

The video matches the track's intensity, expansiveness, and brooding nature as it follows a suited-up protagonist around dense forests, an abandoned factory, and a vast coastline. The man begins to lose himself within the deserted surroundings in a liberating but maniacal manner, undergoing a brutal and existential metamorphosis to free his soul from the fast-paced nature of modern life.

"The character in the music video is sick of trying to control and micro-manage the outcomes of his chaotic world which in reality he has no control over. He is looking for something deep within himself, something more primal, more spiritual; something that is hard to find in capitalist Western culture. He hears 'a cold wind calling' and is turning his back on the things he's built his life around; instead seeking and submitting to the answers he finds in the natural world so he can find a true sense of self and purpose."
- Jared King (bass/backing vocals)

The band's debut album, Under the Cold Light of the Moon, has racked up some nice achievements already despite only being released a little over a month ago. It debuted at #14 on the FMQB SubModern Albums Chart in the US, and has also received glowing reviews from The Rockpit, KTSW 89.9, and Portland Radio Project 99.1.

Title track and lead single, "Under the Cold of the Moon" has also fared well, receiving airplay on Double j, Triple Unearthed, and Triple M. The carefully crafted animated video has also racked up 41,000 plays and 150 shares on Facebook since it's release on May 17.

Strings for the album were recorded at the prestigious Abbey Road Studios in London and world-renowned LA-based engineer Paul Lani (David Bowie, Prince, Megadeath) was enlisted to mix the record. Together Paul and the band sculpted a captivating reverb-drenched yet hard-hitting debut record that is impactful from the very first listen.

With a new cinematic sound and grandiose aesthetic, the band are more equipped than ever to make their mark on the global music landscape.

Crystal Cities are Geoff Rana (vocals/guitar/keys), Jared King (bass/backing vocals), and Daniel Conte (drums/percussion).
