Blue Mountains based
Copperline are back with a new single
'If You Knew Me At All', which follows on from the release of their 2018 debut album
Rusty Fords and Weatherboards.
The lads in
Copperline comprise of fellow troubadours
Richie Gosling (bass, guitar, vocals),
Paul Handel (guitar, vocals),
Gareth Richards (Drums) and
Brad Christmas (vocals, guitar, piano), who also works the keys as a hired gun for
Steve Kilbey (
The Church),
Dave Gleeson (
The Screaming Jets),
Steve Balbi (
Noiseworks) and
Iota, just to name a few.
Collectively,
Copperline have been using their pandemic hibernation wisely by creating new music with multiple
ARIA and
Golden Guitar winning
Shane Nicholson (
Tori Forsyth, Michael Waugh, Alex Lloyd) at his Sound Hole studio on the NSW Central Coast.
Their latest offering is a bittersweet tale of moving on in the face of being dealt a difficult hand in life. It's a moving tale of lost relationships and risks. Of the track,
Christmas says:
"'If You Knew Me At All' is a meditation on the struggle to leave the ghosts of the past and baggage of family history behind. It's about the mountains we have to climb to be better versions of ourselves."
Copperline have plenty of road miles under their belts, and their
music bears the grit and pain from life well lived and hard work. They have earned the respect of their peers by nabbing four nominations in the
Australian Songwriters Association Awards. They pride themselves on a dynamic and powerful stage show, having wowed audiences at the
Blue Mountains Blues and Roots Festival, and
the Under the Stars Festival. They will also be appearing at the
Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2022.
'If You Knew Me At All' is a powerful reminder that the wisdom of our choices is not always wise in hindsight. As
Christmas sings:
"All the castles that we build are built to one day fall, All the roots that we put down get tangled in the dirt". The bouncy groove belies the message beneath, showing
Copperline to be songwriters of depth and passion. This is a song to hold close to your heart.
