Aerre Wildfire Fragrance

Dior Sauvage launched in 2015, composed by François Demachy, the in-house perfumer who spent over a decade shaping the Dior fragrance wardrobe. It became one of the best-selling men's scents of the last decade for a reason: a fresh-spicy-woody character built around bright citrus, peppery warmth, and a smooth ambroxan base. At the Australian counter, a 100ml bottle now sits north of $200, which is a lot to spend on a fragrance you wear three times a week.

Wildfire is our impression of that signature, made in Provence at a fair price. It has a rugged, outdoorsy feel, the kind of scent that suits a long drive, a walk through eucalypt scrub, or a Friday after work. It lives on the fresh-woody-aromatic spectrum, with enough spice to feel masculine and enough citrus to stay wearable in Australian heat. If you like this style, our woody perfume collection is worth a look.

Top Notes (The first notes you smell) - Bergamot, Pepper, Star Anise

Middle Notes (The heart of the perfume) - Lavender, Nutmeg, Geranium

Bottom Notes (The notes that linger all day) - Patchouli, Amberwood, Vetiver

Here's what you're getting in the bottle. Wildfire is a 50ml Eau de Parfum at 20% aromatic concentration, formulated in Provence by the same fragrance houses that supply the major French luxury brands. That concentration matters: it's why the scent has real weight on skin rather than fading after an hour.

The wear arc moves like this. Bergamot and pink pepper hit first, sharp and bright for the opening 15 to 20 minutes. The middle settles into a softer lavender-geranium phase that carries through the next few hours. From there, patchouli, ambroxan and vetiver take over and hold the dry-down, with longevity sitting around 8 to 10 hours on most skin types.

Wildfire hits its stride in spring and autumn, when the air is cool enough to carry the spice without overheating it. Think crisp morning walks, long lunches that roll into the evening, or that stretch of April where you actually want to wear a jacket again. It's a strong fit for date nights, dinners, and smart-casual settings where you want presence without shouting. For the office, a single spray on the wrist keeps it professional.

Review:
I'm pretty fussy with men's fragrances because I don't want something that smells too sweet, too polished or like I've just walked through a department store fragrance counter. Wildfire gets the balance right for me. The first spray has that sharp bergamot and pepper hit that feels clean and energetic, while the star anise gives it a slightly darker edge. After 20 minutes or so, it settles into lavender, nutmeg and geranium, which makes it smoother without losing that masculine character. It has the sort of fresh, outdoorsy smell that works well with jeans and a T-shirt but doesn't feel out of place with a shirt and jacket either.
I particularly like how it develops later in the day. Once the patchouli, amberwood and vetiver come through, it has a warmer, earthy quality that I find much more interesting than a fragrance that smells exactly the same from the first spray to the last. I've been wearing it for work, dinners and weekends, and it's become an easy grab when I want to smell good without making a big deal about it. The 50ml bottle is also a practical size for keeping in a gym bag or overnight bag. For a guy looking for a fresh but masculine everyday fragrance with some depth, Wildfire is definitely worth having in the rotation.
