Zaritza When I Want It

Zaritza When I Want It

Bold emerging artist Zaritza is shaking off taboos and empowering women in her sultry dark-pop new offering 'When I Want It'.

Taking the reins of the rhythm, the Russian singer-songwriter uses influences of electro-pop and industrial grunge as a backdrop to her compelling vocals. Demanding her own rules in the lyrical narrative, Zaritza is unafraid of her dominance and uses the powerful ambience of the track to make sure it is a well-known fact. With teetered percussion and syncopated synths, the single spans out into a cinematic soundscape that is soaked in feelings of sensuality, determination and tenacity. "When I Want It is a celebration of female sexual freedom', Zaritza explains. "It's written from the perspective of a strong, independent woman who isn't afraid to sing about her sexual desires and who finds joy in her self-pleasure. She does it when she wants it and how she wants it, without any fear of judgement or shame. She loves herself and isn't afraid to express it".

With her influences ranging from Rachmanioff to Radiohead and Mendelssohn to Massive Attack, Zaritza's unique sound is a fusion of these dark, dream pop elements. Born in a small village in Russia at the end of the Soviet era, she discovered a deep passion for music that forged an escape from the struggles of her reality. Her dedication to her art, including as a dancer and classical pianist, saw her win numerous awards and a stipend from the Russian government. After emigrating to the USA after graduating from high school, Zaritza began to set her sights on becoming a full-time performer. Exploring themes of love, identity, alienation, dreams and disappointment, her musical journey reflects the hardships she has experienced throughout her youth, and the perseverance that has led to her position today, so much so that her inspiring tale led her to be invited to share it upon the prestigious TEDx Conference stage in 2016.

After her eponymous debut album was released in 2017, Zaritza continued to perfect her artistry, with a multitude of follow-up singles being received to rapturous reviews. She is dedicated to making the industry a better place for women, and her discography beams with the positive light of a confident, liberated feminist who is destined to keep opening up new avenues for others. An important figure within the industry, Zaritza proceeds to exceed expectations, and 'When I Want It' is yet another boundary-pushing single from the artist.
