Sydney singer-songwriter Renée Jonas is making a name for herself with her honest, and cheeky songs, and she's back with a Christmas song that we need to farewell the year that was 2020.

Naughty Little Me is about a woman who may have been a little bit naughty during the year, but tells Santa she is still expecting some top-class gifts, with a lump of coal not on her wish list.

Although this is the only song that Renée has released that she didn't write, it is so fitting for the Man In Red and Blame It On The Wine singer, that she was immediately drawn to the song as soon as she heard it.

Renée's friends, Nashville songwriters Andi and Ren Renfree wrote the song and, as soon as she heard the track, Renée offered to record vocals on it so they could pitch the song for Christmas movies.

During lockdown in Australia, Renée recorded the vocals in her bedroom and sent them to Nashville.

Renée is no stranger to Christmas songs, having released the fun, Man In Red, three years ago, she decided to re-release this track, but wanted a new song to go with it as a bundle.

"I thought I would just record an acoustic version of a classic Christmas song, but then thought it would be great if there was a song that was even more me," the country artist said.

"I got back in touch with Andi and Ren, had a few discussions around the song, and they said they would love me to record it. I couldn't have found a better song that was suited to me, if I had written it myself because they nailed it with this song. They were saying they wanted a sexy, cheeky, playful Marilyn Monroe- style vocal on it and the song suited me so well."

Renée also wanted to spread some fun with her Christmas song, after the year that 2020 has been with a global pandemic, losing a friend in tragic circumstances and so many people having such a hard time.

"The whole Christmas season has always been so magical and wonderful with so many parties to enjoy and friends to catch up with, but this year, I have no expectations of Christmas celebrations," she said.

"I've always loved Christmas songs, loved Christmas and make the most of it - I used to run around singing Christmas songs in May.

"If I can remind everyone of my Man In Red, then bring them this other cheeky, playful song, it'll hopefully remind us that 2020 is nearly over and Christmas is to be enjoyed and appreciated."
