Peanut Butter Bircher

Peanut Butter Bircher

Mayver's are sharing these delicious and nutritious recipes just in time for Fruit and Veg Month this September

Fruit and Veg Month highlights the importance of including fruit and vegetables to children's everyday food intake.

Family-owned company Mayver's are not only peanut butter lovers but also fruit and veg enthusiasts and have come up with these unique and easy-to-make recipes perfect for getting kids to eat more fruit and veg.

Leading dietitian Susie Burrell says that it's important to include the kids in the kitchen to encourage healthy eating choices at a young age. Susie has provided her top three mum-hacks on 'how to get picky eaters to eat more fruit and veg'.

Susie's Top Three Mum-Hacks For Picky Eaters:

Tip 1: Involve them in cooking and baking healthy treats
Tip 2: Have a fun activity looking at all the different types of fruit and veggies and holding your own taste test
Tip 3: Pack delicious and healthy on-the-go snacks. I recommend making your own sandwich and toast bars with a range of toppings and spreads

Peanut Butter Bircher

Recipe by Susie Burrell

1 Granny Smith apple, halved
¾ cup quick oats
¾ cup milk
¼ cup yoghurt
Pinch cinnamon
1 tbsp Mayver's Unsalted Peanut Butter

Grate one half of the granny smith apple. Mix the grated apple, quick oats, milk, yoghurt and cinnamon in a bowl until well combined. Cover and place in the fridge for two hours or overnight.
To serve, stir peanut butter through the bircher mix. Thinly slice the remaining apple into batons and place on top of the bircher.

Adding 100% natural nut spread to your favourite breakfast bowl is an easy way to add extra protein and good fats, which will also help keep you fuller for longer and less likely to snack through the morning. For this recipe I use Mayver's Unsalted Peanut Butter to keep the taste of my oats relatively sweet.

All Mayver's natural peanut butters are vegan and made from nothing but natural ingredients that contain absolutely no added oil, sugar, gluten, dairy, cholesterol or hardened fats. They are also a great source of good fats, protein and key nutrients including potassium and magnesium.

Additionally Mayver's new range of snack size peanut butters, Goodness to Go, are perfect for on-the-go kids who enjoy dipping fruit and veggie sticks. They come in the two most popular flavours, Crunchy and Dark Roasted Crunchy PB.
