Mid City Liar Liar

Mid City Liar Liar

MID CITY's riffs are immediate, their choruses anthemic. Crashing onto the Australian and German music scenes with their blistering breakup anthem 'Old Habits' in 2018, the group release their raucous new single 'Liar Liar', track one from their forthcoming EP Wishing For The Best out November 2020.

Produced by Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Alex Lahey, Ali Barter), 'Liar Liar' crashes fearlessly out of the gates. Lavished with pounding drum kicks and ferocious guitar melodies, Mid City return with yet another perfectly crafted indie-rock gem.

"What started out as a beast of an instrumental, 'Liar Liar' took its final form when I forced myself out of town to a kitch-as-hell 1950's caravan out past the Dandenongs", lead vocalist Joel Griffith explains. "It was here, as the valley filled with heavy smoke haze, that I put pen to paper and conjured the demons needed to match melody with meaning."

Wishing For The Best is the bullish sibling to MID CITY's debut EP Die Waiting, featuring the stand-out track 'Old Habits' which peaked at #9 on triple j most played and amassed over 2 million streams on across platforms. The sophomore single 'Old Habits' kicked up a stir in Germany in 2019 when TV/podcast star Ollie Shultz shared the track, causing a chain reaction that led to the song hitting the Viral Top 50 Chart on Spotify in Germany. With an impressive live reputation to match, the group headed off on a huge 18 date international tour in 2019 as well as playing packed out shows at BIGSOUND, Reeperbahn Festival and NYE On The Hill.

With support from numerous key international press and radio outlets including BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders) Clash Magazine, NME, Consequence of Sound, and triple j, the quartet are rapidly building a name for themselves - crafting candid, heart-felt narratives with their hearts on their sleeves.

Reflecting on the events of 2020's 'Liar Liar' acknowledges the twin realities that live within us, the feeling of "wanting to act like nothing is going wrong for a second" and the need to "step up when shit gets real".
