McHappy Day 2019

McHappy Day 2019

McDonald's Australia has today announced Hollywood actress, Katie Holmes, will take on the role as McHappy Day Ambassador. McHappy Day is the largest annual fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) across Australia, and in 2019 will take place on Saturday 16th November, raising much needed funds that help keep families together when their child is seriously ill or injured.

Holmes, who became a global star for her roles in Dawson's Creek and Batman Begins, will travel to Australia for McHappy Day and be on hand to help fundraise on the day at a Sydney McDonald's restaurant. Ronald McDonald Houses are at the cornerstone of RMHC, and ahead of McHappy Day, Holmes will also visit children and parents currently staying at a House.

Katie Holmes said "I'm proud to be named the 2019 Ambassador for McHappy Day and I'm really looking forward to being in Australia for this important event. McHappy Day raises funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities, ultimately helping to keep families together while their sick or injured child undergoes treatment. I can only imagine how much that helps the child and reduces the impact on the family unit."

Jo Feeney, Marketing Director, McDonald's Australia, commented: "We're thrilled Katie Holmes will be joining us as our 2019 McHappy Day Ambassador. We know supporting children's charities is close to Katie's heart, making her a fantastic advocate to help us generate critical funding for Ronald McDonald House Charities. We're hoping with Katie's support we can beat our record and raise more than $5 million for this important charity."

Barbara Ryan, Chief Executive Officer, RMHC, added, "McHappy Day is the single biggest fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities each year, and we're excited that Katie is coming on board for McHappy Day 2019! Donations and fundraising are vital to allowing us to be able to continue to offer the services we do, and since its inception in 1991, McHappy Day has raised more than $46 million that's gone on to have a significant impact on thousands of families from right across Australia."

Just some of the ways Aussies can show their support for McHappy Day include:
• Buying a Big Mac from McDonalds - $2 from every Big Mac sold on 16th November goes directly to RMHC
• Picking-up a pair of $5 silly socks or a Helping Hand for $2, $10 or $50
• Making a gold coin donation via the McHappy Day Bucket Brigades
