Fans of the beloved ABBA musical can rejoice as the MAMMA MIA! The Musical makes a triumphant return to Melbourne this summer! Melbourne independent theatre company, AG Theatre, has announced that the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award nominated show will open at Melbourne's historic National Theatre in St Kilda, for a special five-week engagement, kicking off on February 7. Seen and loved by over 65 million people around the world, this smash hit phenomenon is a joyous celebration of love, laughter and friendship, proving that MAMMA MIA! The Musical is a fabulous night out for all ages!

Featuring
twenty-two of ABBA's greatest hits, including Dancing Queen, Voulez Vous, S.O.S and Take a Chance On Me, the iconic songs you know, and love are guaranteed to have audiences dancing in the aisles! In addition to its legendary stage presence, 'Mamma Mia!' has left an indelible mark on popular culture. The musical was adapted into the 2008 film starring Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth, followed by a well-received sequel, 'Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,' in 2018.


Set on a Greek island paradise and inspired by the story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs, writer
Catherine Johnson's heart-warming tale centres around a young bride-to-be. On the eve of her wedding, as a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited twenty years ago.

Starring in this exciting new Australian production as mother-of-the-bride Donna Sheridan is Bek Cha
pman. Bek is a graduate of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and has appeared in productions such as Kinky Boots, Jazz Men and Ladies in Black - Beaumaris Theatre earlier this year where she received a Music Theatre Guild nomination, Best Supporting Actress.

In the role of Donna's daughter and bride-to-be Sophie, is emerging young Australian actor Isabelle (Belle) Parkinson. The Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts graduate has recently been seen
in Dog Man the Musical and as Cecile in Cruel Intentions..

Starring as Donna's vivacious and loyal friend Rosie, is
Antoinette Davis, who is a graduate of the Federation University Arts Academy. Her recent theatre credits include Heathers, RENT! and Dogfight. Sasha Hennequin rounds out the Dynamo trio in the role of Donna's spirited friend Tanya. The seasoned performer has starred across stage, theatre and film. Her recent credits include Spreadsheet on Paramount+, and Wentworth for Foxtel.


Stage and screen actor
Sam Anderson stars as Sam Carmichael, one of Sophie's unsuspecting fathers. Sam's stage and screen career has seen him perform as Dorothy the Dinosaur with The Wiggles and perform at Edinburgh Fringe with his one man show, as well appearances on Underbelly 2 and All Saints.

Acclaimed theatre performer Shannon Foley plays Harry Bright, another man from Donna's past who could be Sophie's father. Shannon's production credits include Footloose, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Guys and Dolls.. Luke Stephens plays Bill Austin, the third potential father in this light-hearted story.  Luke is a versatile Australian actor whose career spans film, television, theatre and commercial work. He made his professional musical theatre debut in Mamma Mia! as part of the original Australian company.


Sophie's adoring fiancé, Sky, is played by
Jesse Vasiliadis, having just finished up a production of The Last Sunday In June at Chapel Off Chapel. Elena Atanasovski and Ally Long play the role of Sophie's best friends, Ali and Lisa respectively. Elena is a dedicated performer whose recent credits include Cruel Intentions: The 90s Musical, Footloose and Oz: The Cirque Experience. Ally will also cover the role of Sophie and recently graduated from the Queensland Academy Of Excellence in Musical Theatre in 2024. Sky's energetic mates are played by Abe Geyer as Pepper and Deklan Haas as Eddie.

The incredible supporting cast includes (in alphabetical order) Darcy Ward,
Isabella Gangi, Isabelle Pascua, Joey Phyland, Lauchlan Mant, Lily Mullen-Wood, Natsuki Akaishi, Patrick Friedlander, Steven Thomas.


MAMMA MIA! The Muscial
first opened on Broadway in 2001, where it ran for 14 years and became the 9th-longest running show of all time. The musical features music and lyrics by ABBA's Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, a book by Catherine Johnson, direction by Phyllida Lloyd and choreography by Anthony van Laast.

For theatre enthusiasts and ABBA fans alike, this limited run promises a nostalgic yet fresh celebration of one of Broadway's most enduring hits. With its infectious tunes and timeless appeal,
MAMMA MIA! The Musical is set to sweep audiences off their feet once more.
