Rising artist King Princess – the first act to be signed to Mark Ronson's label Zelig – has debuted her new song Talia via Zelig and Sony Music Entertainment Australia. Stream or buy Talia now.
On the song, King Princess says: "Everyone has different ways of dealing with heartbreak. This was mine, and I hope it helps somebody else in the same way."
Talia follows breakout single 1950 which was released in February this year to instant widespread adoration from the likes of Harry Styles, The xx's Romy Madley Croft and Charli XCX, with more than 30 million streams to date. The Australian audience have also completely fallen for King Princess and the release of her dreamy 1950 – The track hit #20 on the Spotify chart this week marking itself as the song's highest chart position globally, an extremely noble feat for the 19 year old who has begun launching her artistic presence internationally.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, King Princess is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer. The product of a musical family, she spent much of her childhood tinkering on the vintage Neve board in her father's Brooklyn studio Mission Sound, learning instrumentation along the way. At 11 she turned down a record deal in favour of finishing school, which eventually led her to USC's Thornton School of Music for college. She studied there for a year with legendary pianist and singer Patrice Rushen before leaving USC to pursue music full time.
Further new music from King Princess is set for release this year.
