Henry Alexander Tell the Future

Henry Alexander Tell the Future

Henry Alexander's fifth single Tell The Future stands tall as an electrifying directive filled with an evergreen optimism, heightened personal agency and surreptitious good-time grooves. Tracking the inspiration within isolation, mindfulness and creative connections, Henry's latest song is freedom from worry.

"So tell the future I'll find a place there for me... now".

Musically, while retaining a clear love of 80's music, this is a soulful pop track for the times with agile production values and Henry's unforgettable phrasing. Placing an unwavering belief hand in hand with new-wave sensibilities, Tell The Future holds modernity's ability to foster despair and incite positive action.

Henry recalls how "This song evolved greatly during the COVID lockdown in Melbourne, Australia. Being forbidden from meeting in person for an extended period of time, we could not have created this track without today's music recording technology. Bouncing tracks back and forth between the band members, we deeply connected and channelled our feelings in what has been the most challenging times of our lives". Impressively, for a track that was created during a fragmented era, Henry's band has delivered a shining release.

Henry released Trouble Maker at the beginning of 2020, a song that found early support across Australia's Community Radio Network and a variety of US college stations. Commenting on Henry's follow-up single In My Shoes, Kayla McNicoll - Happy Mag (Sydney) says "19-year-old singer-songwriter Henry Alexander is yet to disappoint, with each of his releases delivering a unique dialogue and displaying a musical maturity far beyond his years".

Guitarist Sam Swain engineered the Tell The Future tracking sessions at Sing Sing Studios and then vocals at Sam's Sunset Pig recording studio in Collingwood with some additional vocals recorded at home and emailed to Sam. As is not so uncommon today, each band member has a home recording setup. Tell The Future was then mixed by Tony Espie (Tuff Tones Music), four times ARIA awards nominee and has worked with artists such as Missy Higgins, The Avalanches and the late great Robert Palmer. Henry Alexander is continuing his journey in Melbourne's indie music scene with his band of talented players such from acts such as Kilns and Josh Cashman.
