Geoff Sturre Interview

How would you describe your music?
Mainly  Dance Pop that can crossover to Clubs. I like to make songs that people like to sing or dance to.

Can you tell us about (your new song/upcoming gig/video), what was the inspiration?
Absolutely Everybody was huge in the 90's and it is a classic that still fills the dancefloor.for me when I DJ.  I thought it needed an update.
What are your musical influences?
They are quite broad and include lots of dance, house music and. funk classics.  I also like a lot of the 80's and 90's dance and many see that as the best era for dance music.

Do you prefer performing live or recording?
I DJ and the rest of the time I am in the studio.

What should we expect from your upcoming shows?
Sharon is the singer on the song and is based in the UK.   It would be good to get her to come here for some live shows.
How did the band come together?
Sharon has been making waves on a lot of new dance releases so I got in touch with her.  More broadly speaking, I have been involved in DJ'ing, Recording, Remixing for a long time.  During the lockdowns I decided to start releasing music again.

What motivates you most when writing music?
I like to have strong stories being told by the lyrics and have them as key elements to the song.
Which music/artists are you currently listening to?
I have been listening to a few Chromeo releases and really like Water by Tyla.  Also, some more Club orientated releases such as Asking by Sonny Fodera & MK  and More Baby by Aluna and Chris Lake
What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
I started doing Mobile DJ Gigs for a DJ Company and parties. DJing got me into creating DJ Remixes, releasing Dance Music in Australia / NZ and,.recording new music.
If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be
Someone like Bruno Mars or Justin they are masters at what they do.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced in the music industry?
Being an independent label / artist.   I like the freedom it brings but it is a lot of work.

What's next, for you?
Tackling some more Dance Classics and also got some releases coming with some well known australian artists.  Stay tuned.
