DJ FLUIR Make Me Feel Interview

Genuinely Happy

Sydney producer, composer, vocalist and DJ FLUIR (Siobhan Krelle) has released her new single 'Make Me Feel'. The track is a blissful blast of electro synth-pop that was produced by FLUIR and Chi. It features Fluir's trademark textured and emotive lyrics.

FLUIR says about her new single, "At the time I wrote 'Make Me Feel' I was genuinely happy. I was studying music production, living in a new city, writing and spending every spare moment going out and listening to live music. I wanted to write a song that captured that moment in time so I could share how I was feeling and make other people happy. This song is about wasting away your weekends and being genuinely happy".

After releasing singles 'Change', 'Feeling For You' & 'Higher Ground' in 2019 alongside producer Sam Littlemore (Pnau), FLUIR was eager to further develop her music production skills. By late-2019 FLUIR had enrolled in Sydney's Liveschool music production course and began honing her craft.

During her enrolment, FLUIR spent every spare moment writing her debut EP titled 'Just Us', scheduled for release in late-2020. 'Make Me Feel' is the first taste of what to expect from the upcoming EP.

Interview with DJ FLUIR (Siobhan Krelle)

Question: How would you describe your music?

Siobhan Krelle: Feel good dance electro-pop!

Question: Can you tell us about Make Me Feel?

Siobhan Krelle: At the time I wrote 'Make Me Feel' I was studying music production, living in a new city, writing and spending every spare moment going out and listening to live music. I wanted to write a song that captured that moment in time so I could share how I was feeling and make other people happy. This song is about wasting away your weekends and being genuinely happy.

Question: Is there a particular message you hope listeners take from your music?

Siobhan Krelle: I've always kept my lyrics open to allow listeners to interpret my music in their own way. That's the great thing about music, it's subjective so one song can mean something completely different to someone else. At the end of the day, I hope my music can bring happiness and joy to the listeners and/or help them through a difficult time.

Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Siobhan Krelle: If I had to choose between the two it would be recording. However, it can sometimes depend on the crowd. If the crowd is really into the show and you're feeding off their energy, then that can be a pretty special moment.

Question: Which is your favourite song to perform live and why?

Siobhan Krelle: The last gig I played, I performed a couple of my unreleased tracks from my upcoming EP. It was really great to see the positive response they received. I guess I really like playing whatever is new as it keep things interesting.

Question: If you could have anyone, in the world, attend a show, who would it be?

Siobhan Krelle: Peggy Gou!

Question: What motivates you most when creating music?

Siobhan Krelle: I love everything about creating music. It's always exciting starting out, not knowing what you're going to come up with. Lately I've been working on my music production, so it's been exciting for me to sit down and work through that stage of the creative process.

Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?

Siobhan Krelle: I try to listen to as much music as possible. I'm currently listening to a lot of artists on the Stockholm label Studio Barnhaus. I highly recommend you check out the artists on their roster.

Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Siobhan Krelle: I got into the music industry by default, having to navigate my way through it releasing my own music. I feel like I have a good handle on how it all works now and what to look out for, which is a powerful thing. As an artist, I try not to get too caught up in the music industry side of things and instead try to pursue what feels right at the time.

Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Siobhan Krelle: Pursuing and having an outlet for my creativity.

Question: What's next, for you?

Siobhan Krelle: I had scheduled an East Coast Tour of Australia for the release of my new single 'Make Me Feel'. However, due to obvious reasons it got postponed. Therefore, I thought it would be fun to do a Facebook Livestream DJ Set on the release day for 'Make Me Feel'. The response was so great so I've decided to do a livestream ever second Friday. The next one is on Friday April 17th, so feel free to tune in and party from the comfort of your living room!
