Aussie indie 5-piece Cousin Tony's Brand New Firebird have release their highly anticipated debut album Electric Brown through Double Drummer Music and Sony Music Entertainment Australia.
The stunning 11-track album was written slowly, over time while lead singer and song writer Lachlan Rose was finishing his music degree. Many of its songs stem from his own personal experiences, observations, and fascinations with people and moments that surround him.
Lachlan explains, "This album is a crystallisation of the Cousin Tony sound. Not in a way that is perfect, just in a way that is unique. There's an earnest quality to all of these songs that I hope listeners sense and connect with….I understand why people call it a 'release', there's a catharsis to it more than anything. There's also that kind of childhood dream side to it. We've all been imagining releasing a record since we were kids. In a word - it feels good."
Electric Brown was recorded in Melbourne with producer Matthew Neighbour (Avalanches, Matt Corby), including all recent singles; synth based Blaze, vibrant Morning Person and hauntingly beautiful Transient. Matthew has also collaborated with Lachlan and the band previously, most notably on the successful Melbourne Bitter EP.
The excitement continues for Cousin Tony's Brand New Firebird with the recent announcement that they will take their new album on the road with a string of shows across the Australian East-Coast, see below for dates and tickets. The band are pumped to be touring their debut release and Lachlan shares, "These are just honest songs that the band have a lot of fun bringing to life. We believe in what we do and we hope people leave feeling connected to us, to each other and to themselves."
Cousin Tony's Brand New Firebird is Lachlan Rose (Lead Vocals/Guitar/Keys), Francesca Gonzales (Vocals/Keys), Kieran Christopherson (Guitar), Leigh McDonald (Bass) and Nick Reid (Drums).
