Fresh off the back of her performance at Melbourne's iconic music venue – The Espy - singer-songwriter Courtney Keil launches her sophomore single 'Hummingbird'. Upbeat and inspiring, this gem was born out of the Melbourne 2020 lockdown with Rod McCormack (3 x CMAA Producer of the Year), Templeton Thompson (Reba McEntire, Jo Dee Messina, Little Texas) and Sam Gay (Deric Ruttan, Little Texas, Bryan White).

Born and raised on a working deer farm in the Adelaide Hills, now living in Melbourne, Courtney Keil has worked toward her release of music for years. 'Hummingbird' lands on the back of her highly successful debut single 'I Just Wanna Hold You' which reached #1 on the Australian iTunes Country Chart, and peaked at #15 on The Music Network Country Hot 50 airplay chart.  The track also gained wide exposure on Apple playlist 'Aussie Country' and was added to stations including ABC Country, Triple M Country, Kix Country, Today's Country 94One, Australian Country Radio, and Country Capital Radio.

Courtney says of the song: "Hummingbird was written as a reminder to choose positive things in life over negative. As there will always be reasons and circumstances that try to pull us down, [however] there is power in rising above these situations. If we make a conscious effort to spread love and positivity around instead, we can make the world a better place. 2020 brought out some of the very best and the worst in people and the world, so the inspiration for this song occurred in the heat of trying to shift the focus on all things good."

Once again Courtney entrusted Platinum-selling producer Rod McCormack to find the sound she was searching for to bring 'Hummingbird' to life. Nashville's finest musicians were on hand to play, including ACM seven-time Drummer of the Year Shannon Forrest (Toto, Michael McDonald), 12-time ACM Guitarist of the Year, 2-time CMA Musician of the Year and Grammy Winner Brent Mason, legendary pedal steel player Dan Dugmore (Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor), Dave Pomeroy, Tim Lauer and of course Rod McCormack.

The 'Hummingbird' music video project was spearheaded by 7x Golden Guitar Winner Duncan Toombs of The Filmery. Courtney says: "The idea behind the clip was to create a carefree, fun, dreamworld giving viewers a positive feel-good experience. It was an absolute pleasure working with Duncan again as he had the innate ability to create and execute the 'set in the clouds' theme to such a high standard."

Graduating from Country Music Association Australia Senior Academy of Country Music in 2016, the last few years Courtney has been mentored and trained by the best in the business including 1991 Star Maker and 5x Golden Guitar Winner Gina Jeffreys & Renee Grant-Williams (Keith Urban, Garth Brooks). She was the recipient of multiple awards at the 2016 Australian Songwriters Conference where she took out Song of the Year and the Pop & Country Categories.  Courtney also grew up amongst motorsport and she is a passionate follower of high-octane action.  As such, she is very excited to be performing the national anthem at Round 1 of the Supercars Championship held at Bathurst on 27th February 2021, which will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and Fox Sports 506

Courtney Keil is about lyrical depth, emotional connection & music that speaks the truth, trademarks of a genuine artist. The release of 'Hummingbird' is a welcome and timely reminder that with resilience and a positive outlook, we can overcome difficult and challenging times. As a strong supporter of mental health awareness, Courtney Keil is choosing to find the optimism in an otherwise gloomy situation that a pandemic lockdown posed for many people. 'Hummingbird' has just the sunny disposition that we all need.
