Singer and songwriter and Listen Up artist Cil shares an impactful new single entitled "pretty years" on Warner Records. It heralds the arrival of her anxiously awaited don't hold me accountable EP coming May 30.
A soft beat keeps the pace for the track, hinting at another side of the songstress. For as subtle as the production may be, her delivery proves downright seismic. Cil flexes her range as she laments, "They say that your twenties are special, but I don't feel special these days." On the hook, her powerhouse pipes resound as she wonders, "Why? Why am I wasting my pretty years fucking with someone like you?"
About the song, she said, "'pretty years" is such a special song because when I wrote it, I don't think I loved myself enough to live for myself. This song became a pivotal moment for me and my healing process. It helped empower me to know my value, and I hope it does the same for everyone else."
It follows the recent fan favorite "loser," which has just begun to pick up steam on DSPs with over half-a-million cumulative streams thus far.
don't hold me accountable finds Cil firing on all cylinders. She delivers blunt lyrics with vitality and vulnerability all at once as she explores the turbulence of Gen Z romance, mental health, and practicing self-love. The record was made alongside producer and songwriter Evan Blair [Rosé, Benson Boone] and marks the true beginning for this artist to watch. Check out the full tracklisting below.
Born in Colorado and based in Los Angeles, Cil (pronounced SIL) has unassumingly emerged as a phenomenon on her own terms with a hard-hitting, yet hypnotic soulful pop sound. Following a groundswell of buzz incited by early critical acclaim, hundreds of millions of streams, and even an endorsement from none other than Stevie Nicks, she has arrived as an artist with singular passion, talent, and grit.
