Canadian singer-songwriter Chloe Stroll is set to release her highly anticipated debut album Bloom in the Break on 12 September, 2025. In the lead-up, she has just unveiled a powerful new single titled 'I Stood My Ground.' The song arrives accompanied by an evocative official video, now available to stream and watch across platforms.
Co-written with Grammy Award-winning producer Walter Afanasieff (renowned for work with Mariah Carey and Celine Dion), 'I Stood My Ground' is an anthem for anyone who's had to hold fast in the face of doubt, grief, or heartbreak. "Walter and I were talking about moments when I've felt unheard or when my values felt compromised. We explored the idea of what it's like to stand your ground while everything around you feels like it's unraveling," says Stroll.
The track follows recent single 'You're OK', a poignant release praised by Building Your Own Nashville as "an acoustic gem that excels in its simplicity… a gentle melody that offers the same comfort as its lyrics."
In the process of creating Bloom in the Break, Stroll wrote over 70 songs before narrowing them down to a deeply personal and reflective 12-track collection. Recorded across studios worldwide, she collaborated with the likes of Swagg R'Celious (H.E.R., Babyface) and Kevin Bard (Andy Grammer, Dan + Shay), alongside Afanasieff.
The album reflects a full spectrum portrait of Stroll's past experiences and how it helped her to get where she is now. Stroll hopes listeners will find the same comfort and healing in the album as she did while creating it. "I wanted people to be able to relate to it in their own ways, and in their own struggles," she details. "Your problem is your problem, but when you're standing up against a wall, we're all facing that same wall. That was my North Star."
Of the album's title, she describes, "I pictured something beautiful"literally the most beautiful flower blooming through breaking glass. Because life's obstacles create who we are, which is where beauty lies"in all our imperfections. It's how we grow to become the people we are."
Originally from Montreal, Chloe Stroll began writing music at just seven years old. Since releasing her 2023 debut single 'Run', she has built a reputation for raw, relatable storytelling, with songs like 'Thin Air' and 'Water Over Sand' resonating with a growing global audience. Her musical inspirations range from Lana Del Rey and Adele to Whitney Houston and Barbra Streisand, artists known for balancing vulnerability with undeniable power.
A deeply grounded writer, Stroll draws much of her emotional richness from the people closest to her, including her family and her husband, Australian Olympic snowboarder Scotty James. Their shared story is one of strength, love, and learning to navigate life's peaks and valleys together.
