Starting at just $10 for school books and easy to purchase online, CAREgifts are the perfect Christmas gift for friends, family and work colleagues. Each gift contributes to a CARE project empowering women, girls and their communities to live, learn, earn and lead so they can overcome poverty:

By helping send a girl to school. Girls are less likely to go to school than their brothers. However, an educated woman is less likely to die in childbirth and is more likely to have healthy babies and send them to school
By providing access to savings and credit so women can start a small business and improve the lives of their families. In most parts of the world, men find it much easier to get credit than women
By providing clean water close to home so women and girls don't have to spend hours every day walking to collect water and can instead go to school or earn an income
By providing chickens and goats, which can provide families with nutritious eggs and milk to eat, drink and sell. CARE Australia is an international and humanitarian aid organisation fighting global poverty, with a special focus on empowering women and girls to bring lasting change to their communities. In 2012, CARE Australia worked in 26 countries across the globe, supporting 189 poverty-fighting projects to reach 3.6 million people.
