Cannon Light In The Fog

Cannon Light In The Fog

Proving they remain an epic live force to be reckoned with, beloved noughties rock outfit, Cannon are sharing a new video for their latest pulsing jam, 'Light In The Fog'. Following from last year's instant classic, 'Enemy' and breaking a lengthy hiatus, 'Light In The Fog' is the second taste of the band's forthcoming debut album, Connexion landing Friday 4 June via local label, Quixotic Records.

For the video, Cannon teamed up with filmmaker and director, Andrew Watson of Semiconductor Media to c
apture a small taste of what's to come when they finally get back on the stage. Seeing double, the epic band rehearsal video features psychedelic mirrored imagery, saturated lighting, riffs galore, and an abundance of smoke. The result is a perfect visual accompaniment to Light In The Fog's infectious energy and non-stop rock rhythms.

"One dark and stormy night late last year, Cannon and I found ourselves sequestered at Big House Arts in Coburg with some of Melbourne's finest pizzas, beers, a smoke machine and their new single with the aim of shooting a music video. As the rain pounded down around us outside the maniacal director (me) could be heard shouting LOUDER .... MORE ENERGY .... MOOOOOOORE!!!!!! They played hard - so hard in fact that blood was spilt (look carefully in the video). Light In The Fog is what resulted." Director of Photography and Editor, Andrew Watson

From humble beginnings after a chance encounter at a You Am I show, Cannon is the birth child of comradery and happenstance. Before too long, Cannon cemented themselves as a permanent fixture on the Australian live circuit. The three-piece performed relentlessly; their eclectic live show on display around Australia with bands such as The Black Keys, Tenacious D, JET, You Am I, Dallas Crane and The Fauves. All members of the band remained active with other projects; frontman Mitchy McIvor took off for a stint in Los Angeles, drummer Dave Mudie played in numerous bands before finding success in Courtney Barnett's band, and guitarist Adam Green also played in numerous outfits whilst keeping busy opening a boutique rehearsal space in Melbourne, and for a short time ran his own record company.

Fast forward to 2020, and no one in the band expected the Cannon story to continue. Having nervously decided to rehearse as an overdue excuse to come together over a few drinks, it was unanimously agreed that what was happening was simply too good not to pursue further, and thus a decision was made that night to finally make their debut album, Connexion. Recorded by Fabian Hunter in Melbourne and mixed by Colin Hegna in Portland, USA, the album alternates between hypnotic, modern grooves to more traditional, but no less worthy, rock/fuzz stompers. Stay tuned for live show details in the not-too-distant future.
