Active Outdoor Quests for Curious Kids These Holidays

Parks Victoria's FREE School Holiday Junior Ranger Program

Parks and reserves across the southern Mornington Peninsula invite active, curious, creative and digitally minded kids to embark on an outdoor quest these holidays from 25th September – 7th October 2017.

Parks Victoria's FREE School Holiday Junior Ranger Program shares the hidden mysteries of our special places, as kids enjoy energetic experiences connecting them with the environment and history.

At Point Nepean, active kids will super sleuth -Who Am I?' roaming the gravesites at the Pioneer Cemetery, and they'll expel their energy and expand their minds through the -Walk, Talk and War' program which explores the cultural and environmental values and military history at Cheviot Hill.

Creative kids will love the -A.E.I.O.U' cultural heritage session at the Quarantine Station exploring history through craft and stories of the Aboriginal and European people who lived and arrived at this site. The -Art in the Park' program at the Collins 1803 First European Settlement Site calls on kids to create temporary artworks with nature and historical artefacts, before returning them to the environment.

Digital enthusiasts will love combining nature and technology with the BioQuest program. Using the QuestaGame app, they'll head out with a Ranger on a -nature quest' at Bridgewater Bay in the Mornington Peninsula National Park to record the animals and plants that call this park home. It's BYO devices and download the App before you come for this popular Biodiversity Month annual activity.

For curious kids, they'll love peering into rock-pools and identifying coastal critters as -Rock-pool Rambles' whet their appetites and their feet at the Mushroom Reef Marine Sanctuary, Flinders. And all their lighthouse questions will be answered through -Beneath the Lighthouse' which unveils the histories and mysteries of the mechanical operations as they climb to the top of Cape Schanck's marine navigational aid.
