The Rolling Stones 1973 Kooyong Concert Re-Lived

The Rolling Stones 1973 Kooyong Concert Re-Lived

Saturday, February 17 marks 45 years to the EXACT day that The Rolling Stones sizzled at Kooyong Tennis Centre during a matinee performance on their infamous Exile On Main Street World Tour in 1973.

To honour this landmark Melbourne concert The Corner Hotel will host a one-off celebration of the so-called Temperature Rising Stones Kooyong show on its precise 45th anniversary, from 1pm on Saturday 17 February.

A track-for-track live tribute will be performed by specifically created local all-star act The Monkey Men, featuring Tim Rogers (You Am I) on lead vocals, Ash Naylor (Even), Davey Lane (You Am I) & Stephen Hadley (Tex Perkins) on guitars, Matthew Cotter (Even) on drums, Bruce Haymes (Renee Geyer) on keys, Jack Howard (Midnight Oil & Hunters & Collectors) & Ben Marsland on horns and Eliza & Talei Wolfgramm on backing vocals. Max Crawdaddy will DJ and James The Hound Dog Young will MC.

The idea is the brainchild of host of 3RRR's Off The Record Brian Wise & Son of Crawdaddy's Max Crawdaddy and Cherry owner James Young, all self-confessed Rolling Stones tragics.

James Young offers, "All I can say is check out the set list and see you at The Corner for this historic event":

1. Brown Sugar
2. Bitch
3. Rocks Off
4. Gimme Shelter
5. Happy
