Sam Fischer continues to produce beauty through musical expression with his latest single, 'Moonshine', out now. Following on from the impactful 'LOVELIFE' earlier this year, the Australian songwriting dynamo continues to pull from personal moments of introspection and emotion with this new work.
An exploration of human emotion and the complexities of relationships, 'Moonshine' is a fitting addition to Fischer's catalogue; one that is beloved by many around the world for this heart-led and visceral approach to songwriting and performance.
For 'Moonshine', Fischer found himself inspired by time spent in Nashville, writing for different artists as well as himself. Falling in love with a city that has such a rich musical history embedded into it, it is unsurprising that so many musicians consider Nashville a priority – both as a visitor and as a creative looking to collaborate and create new work.
As Fischer explains, "Writing songs is a weird and funny thing because being totally honest, I just really wanted to write a song called 'Moonshine' because I thought it would be a great title. I made up a story for it and hopefully when you listen to it, you're able to relate something from your own life.
It's a little different for me and leans more into the country world which honestly, was inevitable at some point for me. I've been writing in Nashville on and off for the past 8 years and have been in a perpetual honeymoon phase for the whole time. Not only that but I've written for Keith Urban, Kane Brown jumped on a remix of 'This City' and I'm touring this year around the world with Brett Young, so it was about time I put a song into the world that honours and gives back the immense amount of love I've always been shown there. With all that said, time to drink up, cheers to 'Moonshine !"
With over 2 billion streams, Sam Fischer is easily one of Australia's most successful songwriters in recent years, becoming a globally renowned artist off the back of his debut track 'This City' – a song that became a fast hit: remaining within the UK Top 20 charts for 11 weeks, earning a double-Platinum status in Australia, as well as going triple-Platinum in the UK and NZ, and Gold in North America and Switzerland.
Following this, Fischer's debut album, I Love You, Please Don't Hate Me, was a pure moment of arrival and defined Fischer as an expert contemporary pop songwriter. The record propelled Fischer onto the radar of worldwide audiences, with over 895.5 million streams on Spotify alone.
Collaborations with names including Amy Shark, Demi Lovato, Meghan Trainor and most recently, Guy Sebastian on the track 'Antidote', reinforced Fischer's presence as one of Australia's exciting names and passionate artists to watch. With 'LOVELIFE' and now 'Moonshine', he continues to chart a beautiful new artistic trajectory.
In May, Fischer will return to Australia, supporting American singer-songwriter and musician, Brett Young.
