MzRizk's Musical Medley

MzRizk presents the first ever MzRizk's Musical Medley, an immersive online variety show featuring a stacked lineup of soul, funk and jazz cats with live performances, interviews and more

Beloved DJ, performer, radio host and event curator, MzRizk is thrilled to present a new online series of events with the inaugural MzRizk's Musical Medley. An online music variety show for the whole family, MzRizk's Musical Medley will include live performances, interviews, album reviews and cooking segments all produced and hosted by MzRizk herself. The first iteration of the event will feature some local and not so local artists of Skyé, Emma Volard, Komang, Thando, Emmpress, Michaela Jayde, HANNAH, ThatKidMaz, Mitsune (Berlin), Audrey Powne and Maya Vice, across six episodes of engaging, light-hearted and informative digital programming.

MzRizk's Musical Medley was developed in response to the Melbourne lockdowns of 2020 as a way to continue to shine a light on emerging, local and international talent, connecting them with new audiences far and wide. The weekly program will be accessible on Facebook and Instagram aired each Tuesday at 9pm with new guests each week. First up is the haunting self-produced Melbourne based performer Skyé and New York-based, Melbourne jazz trumpet player and vocalist Audrey Powne.

Following Skyé and Audrey Powne will be Melbourne soul's new-kid-on-the-block Komang, commanding powerhouse Thando, the delectable Emmpress, the infectious energy of Michaela Jayde, indie RnB singer songwriter HANNAH, rapper-on-the-rise ThatKidMaz, Berlin's Mitsune, local soul and jazz queen Emma Volard, and eclectic storyteller Maya Vice.

The series will be broken up into short segments including What's This Sound? where MzRizk will choose a record from her expansive vinyl collection, playing snippets and unpacking its history, sound, and lyrics and dissecting the value of the record both in shaping or contributing to today's musical landscape. What's Cookin'? will see MzRizk invite an artist to share one of their favourite recipes and What Are You Wearing? Will allow artists to showcase their favourite wardrobe item. Finally Let's Have A Chat About That will host artist interviews about their career, their favourite songs and their favourite things to do while in isolation. Of course, each episode will also feature artists performing a song or two.
