Mardi Gras Party

Mardi Gras Party

Multi award-winning Aussie dance stalwarts PNAU and pop sensation Kim Petras lead the first line-up announcement for Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras' epic Party, held directly after the Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday 2 March, 2019.

These two phenomenal performers are just the first two acts to be added to a massive Mardi Gras Party. More international and Australian artists are set to be added to the line-up in the coming weeks.

One of Australia's most pioneering and celebrated electronic acts, PNAU have incorporated a mix of house, funk, jungle, and pop into their music over the years, snagging ARIA awards and a U.K. number one album with Elton John along the way. Their 2017 album Changa spawned hits Chameleon and Go Bang, picked up 2017 and 2018 ARIA Awards for Best Dance Release respectively. Flying in from L.A. exclusively for the special Mardi Gras set, PNAU will perform with a full electronic band set-up with guest vocalist.

Born in Germany, 25 year old pop singer-songwriter Kim Petras has made a huge splash, producing dance floor bangers I Don't Want it All and Heart to Break, and cementing her rise to celebrity in the United States where she now resides. Kym notably began transitioning with female hormone therapy following her twelfth birthday before receiving gender reassignment surgery at the age of 16. The up and coming star of the moment and an unstoppable force, Petras has collaborated with the likes of Charlie XCX and SOPHIE, as well as touring with queer icon Troye Sivan on his most recent tour of the U.S.A. Her undeniably addictive new track Feeling of Falling already has the music industry predicting Petras to be the next big thing. Petras' exclusive Mardi Gras Party performance will mark her first time performing in Australia.

The year's Mardi Gras Party is set to have one of the most diverse line-ups yet, featuring a slew of local and international DJs including: Amanda Louise, Ben Drayton, Brooke Powers, Butch le Butch, DJ Charlie Villas, DJ Hamo, The Dollar Bin Darlings, Dom De Sousa, Feisty, HipHopHoe, Kitty Glitter, Magda Bytnerowicz, Matt Jay, SVETA, Toy Armada (PH) & DJ GRIND (USA) and Victoria Anthony. The full line-up of DJs will be announced in the New Year.

The Mardi Gras Party is Australia's biggest LGBTQI event of the year and has featured the biggest and best international and local acts including Cher, George Michael, Calvin Harris, Kylie and Dannii Minogue, Cyndi Lauper, The Presets and more.

Last year's Mardi Gras Party sold out as the New Year dawned, so make sure you book early to avoid disappointment. With specially themed fantasy worlds to experience including The Neon Playground, Black Palace and The Powder Puff, there are plenty of surprises in store for 2019. The Mardi Gras Party is Sydney's party of the year, renowned for its incredible DJ line-up, spectacular live performances and hedonistic happenings.
