The Port Fairy Folk Festival is back on(line) with HOME FOLK, a special virtual event on Friday 9 October, presented by Geelong Arts Centre as part of their Where Creativity Meets At Home digital program.

HOME FOLK will celebrate regional Victoria's extraordinary musicians with Sal Kimber, Fenn Wilson and Van Walker delivering the folk festival's village vibes to audiences at home.

Port Fairy Folk Festival Program Director Justin Rudge said: 'The team at Port Fairy Folk Festival are so happy to be delivering a wonderful night of entertainment featuring three great artists from regional Victoria to the virtual world.

'While we start preparing for the Festival's return in 2022, we look forward to bringing you events such as this concert to remain connected with our festival family,' said Justin.

The three regional-based musicians, Sal Kimber, Fenn Wilson and Van Walker are Port Fairy Folk Festival favourites, having performed at the popular seaside event in the past. Each artist will perform an intimate 30-minute set which will be streamed live from the Geelong Arts Centre for this special event.

Geelong Arts Centre CEO Joel McGuiness said: 'As long-time admirers of the Port Fairy Folk Festival and its dedication to artists and fans, this is an incredible opportunity for Geelong Arts Centre to collaborate and support the Festival, its fans and local artists at this time.'

For 44 years the Port Fairy Folk Festival has been entertaining music lovers with its annual seaside event, taking place in the heart of the Victorian coastal village. The 2021 Festival has been put on pause due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, with the Festival returning to Port Fairy on the long weekend in March 2022.

President of the Port Fairy Folk Festival Committee John Young said: 'All of us at Port Fairy Folk Festival are delighted to be collaborating with Geelong Arts Centre to produce this online concert showcasing regional artists. We look forward to being able to continue providing events such as this throughout the next 12 months as we work towards our 45th Festival in March 2022.'

HOME FOLK live stream will take place live from the Geelong Arts Centre on Friday 9 October at 8pm. The event is free to watch at geelongartscentre.org.au or via Facebook Live.
