Tasmanian Gin Festival, Gin-uary

Gin-uary, the Tasmanian Gin Festival, returns for its third year in 2020

Good things come in small batches and on Saturday 25th January 2020, twenty-six of Tasmania's highly awarded distilleries will showcase the finest of their small-batch gins at Gin-uary, the Tasmanian Gin Festival.

From the gold leaf flecked Emblezzler to gins infused with strawberry, citrus, saffron and sweet pea – an addition that causes the gin to change colour when tonic is added – over two sessions gin lovers will have the opportunity to sample over 60 gins from 26 distillers, engage with makers and learn about the craft.

Long touted for its whisky, in recent years many Tasmanian distillers have diversified into gin production, a move that has resulted in a foray of global and Australian accolades for distillers across the state [full list in editor notes]. Gin-uary provides these makers an opportunity to showcase their product to a greater audience.

"This event is not just for gin aficionados but for those who just generally appreciate true craftsmanship, meticulous attention to detail, regional provenance and of course a bloody good tipple," said Courtney Quinn-McCabe, Gin-uary Founder.

"It's about celebrating Tasmania's budding gin industry by telling the stories of the makers and giving distillers, all of which are boutique in nature, the opportunity for visibility on a national scale," said QuinnMcCabe.

Gin-uary offers a range of ticketing options and experiences to suit gin lovers across the spectrum. Connoisseurs seeking a truly immersive experience have the opportunity to become a distiller for the day, creating their own take-home gin at McHenry Distillery. The experience also includes private transfers, an exclusive four-course dinner with matched gin cocktails, a gin and chocolate matching masterclass and VIP access to the Gin-uary Festival.

For the gin lover, general entry tickets to the event include a masterclass on making the perfect 'G&T' with Fever Tree Tonic Water.

Located in The Goods Shed on Macquarie Point, the festival is presented in partnership with 9/11 Bottle Shop and will run over two sessions from 11.30-15.30 and 17.00-21.00. Tickets start from $45 and include a custom Gin-uary tote bag to transport your gin bottles and complimentary reusable water bottle. Early bird tickets on-sale from Friday 8th November 2019.
