Christmas in July Festival Returns to The Rocks

Christmas in July Festival Returns to The Rocks
After a glorious 10-day celebration last year that transformed The Rocks into a glowing winter Christmas village, this free-entry festival is set to return in 2026, bringing snowfall, fairy lights, mulled wine, live music, unmissable entertainment, and festive winter magic back to Sydney's historic precinct.

Christmas in July Festival has quickly become one of Sydney's most loved winter traditions, giving people the perfect excuse to pull out their winter coats, ugly Christmas jumpers, scarves and beanies, and celebrate the festive season all over again.

For 10 magical nights, The Rocks will once again be transformed into a European-inspired winter wonderland, featuring kilometres of fairy lights, magical installations, festive music, artisan markets, and cosy food experiences. Over 30 vendors will showcase the best in Christmas shopping alongside specially curated winter food creations.

At the heart of the festival are the traditional European-style wooden huts that line the laneways and historic streets of The Rocks, recreating the charm and atmosphere of the Christmas markets found across France, Germany and the Alpine regions during winter.

Visitors will wander through rows of beautifully decorated chalets filled with artisan gifts, handmade creations, festive treats, winter drinks and immersive food experiences, all set against the sandstone backdrop of Sydney's most historic precinct.

Returning favourites include the now iconic Snow Lane in the historic Kendall Lane, where snow falls beneath glowing fairy lights, alongside mulled wine bars, melted raclette and fondue experiences, hot chocolates, winter desserts, fire pits and artisan shopping throughout the market village.

Last year's edition drew massive crowds and quickly established itself as one of the city's signature winter experiences, with visitors embracing the atmosphere, winter traditions and the joy of gathering together in the heart of Sydney.

"We created Christmas in July Festival to bring the magic and atmosphere of the great European winter markets to Sydney," said Vincent Hernandez.

"There's something incredibly special about walking through glowing wooden chalets, drinking mulled wine beneath fairy lights, watching snow fall in The Rocks and sharing melted cheese with friends and family. People genuinely embrace the experience and make it part of their winter traditions."

The festival celebrates the simple pleasures of winter: glowing lights through sandstone laneways, warm drinks shared with friends, artisan shopping, festive food, live music and magical moments beneath the lights of The Rocks.

With free entry and experiences designed for all ages, Christmas in July Festival continues to grow as a major winter celebration for Sydney, blending festive traditions, artisan markets and immersive winter experiences in one of the city's most iconic precincts.
