The Big Hug Books series grew from letters sent to children and their families after their psychology sessions―so each book has its origins in a real problem and the suggested strategy. The Big Hug books deal with emotive issues that children face in direct and gentle terms, allowing children's feelings and problems to be more easily shared and discussed with family and friends.
Author Shona Innes is a qualified clinical and forensic psychologist with many years of experience assisting children in times of trouble. The warm and funny illustrations by Irisz Agócs engage with the reader and helps them to understand the message contained within the book.
Each book deals with a specific issue:
The Playground is Like a Jungle explores the idea of bullying and getting along with people
The Internet is Like a Puddle explores the dangers that lurk with unsupervised access to the Internet
Friendship is Like a Seesaw explores how to deal with the ups and downs of friendship
Life is Like the Wind explores the idea of death and ways of dealing with grief
Shona Innes is a Clinical & Forensic Psychologist with many years of experience working with children, teens and adults who are worried, sad or naughty.
