Adam Liaw Destination Flavour Singapore

Brand new 9-part food series begins Thursday, 12 January at 8.00pm.

The latest culinary series of the AACTA award-winning Destination Flavour sees Adam Liaw travel to the Asian food mecca of Singapore. Premiering on Thursday, January 12 at 8.00pm on SBS and Food Network, Adam will go on a journey of a food and family discovery like no other, travelling across the length and breadth of the small island nation and discovering long-held secrets about his family ancestry in Singapore.

In this series, Adam will visit specialty hawker stalls that have been handed down from generation to generation. He will leave no stone unturned in his quest to find the very best flavours Singapore has to offer -  dropping by some of the finest 5-star restaurants in the world featuring the likes of Michelin-starred chef Guy Martin and Australia's own Chef Tetsuya Wakuda.

Adam also takes on one of the biggest pressure-cooker challenges of his career - in the final episode, the Australian High Commissioner and the cream of Singapore's food scene will gather at one of the city's finest waterside hotels to sample his 5-course fine dining menu; where he must interpret the essence of the Singapore that he's experienced.

Adam Liaw – Host

Instantly recognisable with his warm smile and topknot, SBS's Destination Flavour host and MasterChef winner Adam Liaw is one of Australia's favourite cooks, authors and commentators, whether on television, online, in print or on radio.

His talent for creating simple, approachable and exciting dishes has seen him author four best-selling cookbooks – Two Asian Kitchens, Asian After Work, Adam's Big Pot, Adam Liaw's Asian Cookery School and most recently, The Zen Kitchen.

Born in Malaysia to an English Singaporean mother and Hainanese Chinese father, Adam's family lived in several countries through his youth and his culinary influences are far-reaching.

Adam holds university degrees in science and law and practiced law for 11 years, most recently as the Head of Legal and Business Affairs for Disney Interactive, Asia Pacific based in Tokyo. His love affair with food and cooking blossomed during this time, and after hearing about MasterChef he returned to Australia in 2009 when his auditions proved successful. In July 2010 over 5 million people tuned in to watch him win the second series MasterChef. His victory still remains the most watched non-sporting event in Australian television history.

His popular television series, Destination Flavour, has travelled through Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Scandinavia - with the show recently winning an AACTA award for Destination Flavour Scandinavia.

With more than 250K followers, Adam's social media presence is ranked by Klout as the most influential in the Australian food industry.

Adam lives in Sydney with his wife Asami and their two children. He speaks English, Japanese and Mandarin. Between his TV commitments and writing his cookbooks, recipes and columns, he makes regular appearances at events and food festivals, and he usually has time to send a tweet or two.  He is also UNICEF Australia's National Ambassador for Nutrition.
